Can the SLP car covers be washed in a washing machine or taken to the car wash?

It can be washed in the washing machine. If you have a black car it'll even scratch your paint!

the directions say machine wash with mild detergent, gentle cycle. I think you also dry it using the delicate setting or just let it dry outside.

Hi Guys,
So SStylez,
Do you not use your SS cover?
If not what cover do you use?
Thanks

I use my cover all the time. I have not noticed any scratches...and it's a black car.

I used to use my car cover all the time but when I took my SS to get detailed the guy who did it said he had to take a lot of scratch marks off my car & told me to use a different car cover. I never told him I used one either. I tried using it one more time & I noticed after just that one use that I could see where the cover left scratch marks, so I sold the cover. I plan to get a California car cover; they are real soft unlike the SLP cover & won't scratch the paint.

Seems to me that no matter which cover you use, unless you can take it on and off without rubbing, fold it so that the outside never makes contact with the inside and keep the rockers and under the bumpers spotless, you are always exposed to a high degree of paint damage risk which must be factored against the damage that you using the cover to protect against.

I can say from experience that you have to be verrrryyyy careful using the SLP car cover, because of possible paint damage. I don't show #31 and I drive her almost every day (although with the price of 92 octane here...I'm slowing down!)but I'm sure the people that do show are gonna want to think long and hard about using the car cover.
What experience has there been with the "California Cover"?

The car I use it on is a White 99 Z28. I have to park it outside because my 2001 SS Convertable gets preferance in my garage. I can see where it would be hard on a darker color though. Thanks for the input!

Good advice on the cover. Maybe once I get some Zaino on my car I'll see this problem. My car is a daily driver too, so I have to relax on the little stuff. Mostly, I use the car cover in my garage to keep the cats off it!

We've had no problem what so ever with our Plushweave cover from California Car Cover Co..

It's cotton on the outside and flannel on the inside.

The instructions say to wash it in a large commerical front loading washing machine with 16 oz. of Fantastik. Our Evolution 4 covers recommend the same thing.
