there is a group purchase going for ssoa members, for an auto lift for home use. these lifts allow you to stack 2 cars , or you can use it to do work on the underside without layin on the floor, the quality is first class and the price is not bad either, if anyone is interested let me know ill relay the info, thanks , jim

I'd really love to jump in with you, 'cause I want to get two of these, but I need to do the garage roof raising mod first...

my rafters are only 8'3 and mine makes it , its tight but it goes, on some garages you can raise the rafters quite easily, im goin to move mine up about 11 inches (whenever i get the time) jim

My garage is completely dry-walled in and I have a concrete tile roof on it, so it's not going to be a small task to raise it. I'm going to have to remove the roof and the trusses, add 3 courses of blocks around the perimeter, then replace the roof. I'm also going to have to redo my attic access and reroute some of the AC ducting...

...it'll be a project for sure...

My garage has a finshed room over it so raising the ceiling is out of the question. We tried to lower the floot but that wasn't happening without dynamite so we nixed that idea too. I would love to have a lift but I only have a little over 6 FT ceiling.

When I get a job ( ), I will build another garage and get my lift then! I would love to have been in this GP!

Yea, and what's worse is that I owned a Dodge Ram pickup at the time. I had 2" clearance over the cab. The antenna would play a tune on the way down the door. I had no choice though. We will build another garage someday. This one is good for the everyday drivers and I have a workshop attached.

You can see how low the ceiling is here.

And this is the view from the front of the camaro. The door towards the back is the original garage and I turned that into a workshop. So I have plenty of floor space but no ceiling!!
