What is the correct way to to Dyno Jet test a auto trans. Does it matter what gear and does the ASR have to be turned off? While I am asking, my neighbor with a 97 SS manual is going to test with me on Friday. What should his gear selection be? Thanx Phil

For the A4, turn the ASR off, that way you won't get that abs inop light.

Best dyno results are when there is 1:1 ratio in the transmission. That means 4th gear for the manual. With an auto, you just have to let it shift, then read the value when in third gear.
The manual trans will produce a very nice smooth curve from 2000 RPM or so to the rev limiter. The auto trans will produce a line with big discontinuities at the shifts.
Dyno runs on manual equipped cars are usually plotted with RPM as the X axis and auto cars with MPH as the X axis.
