I'm pretty dead set on buying a 35th anniversary or at least a 2002 SS. I heard that ordering can start as early as July 1st. When you order one, is a down payment required or does that not happen until the vechicle arrives. I'm assuming that they will need something from you to assure that you will not back down once the car arrives!

You can order an '02 now ... I believe some may have already been delivered.
The deposit required depends on your dealer. If you have a good working relationship it may be minimal.
If you want a 35th anniversary car MAKE SURE YOUR DEALER HAS ALLOCATION. The distribution of the anniversary cars is based on the Camaro sales history of the dealership.

Thanks for the info poSSum. Is it almost certain that the 35th anniversary will look like the one in the spy pic featured on www.camaroz28.com? Isn't it supposed to be officially shown to the public this weekend?

Possum -- has the 35th come off constaraint? Last I heard it hadn't and that it would be coming off on constrant on July 15 but I 've been wrong before.
Kevin -- If it was a pic of a silver SS with Red white and blue checked stripes on the rear then that is no the 35th that is a digitally produced fake.
Dealer that have sold 4 or more '01 camaros will be the only ones eligable to get allocation. Make sure to talk to your dealer and find out if you can get one of thier allocations now. don't wait until the constant comes off.

Yup, I believe it will be revealed this weekend. I never saw the spy pic's but if it's what John described then, no, that's not the car.
I'd love to tell you more, but I am under threat of having my face removed with a pipe wrench, or something to that effect, if I say anything.

I still think it is so funny they tried to keep it such a secert but they failed. There are a lot of people that know what it is going to be and personally I think isn't that great. I would rather have power over appearance. Z06 power would be a start.
It will be posted shortly after the unveiling this saturday, until then if we say anything Dave will take our SS's away.
But it still makes them mad that we know, nah nah nah nah I know what it's going to be.
I shut up now. Tom

They look good .... and they'll be affordable .... something an LS6 anniversary car would not have been. The drivers would buy a Z06 instead ..... the collectors .... who cares about collectors --- cars are built to be driven.

So I take it that the guys who know are either GM employees or SLP employees or damn close to one of the two. I wish I knew , but I am not going to order something when I have no idea what it looks like. Soooo....it looks like I'll have to spend my lunch asking some key people around the Milford Proving Grounds tomorrow.
2K1SunsetSS: I agree on performance over appearance, but the Z06 is way out of my league. I'm pushing it by laying 35k+ down on the SS.
By the way, my 1998 SS is for sale if anyone is interested or knows somebody who would be interested.

Z06 is out of my price range, heck the ss is to but oh well. I meant it should have like 400hp but nothing we can do.
You will know in a couple days, yes it was very nice getting the information early enough that I could have cancelled my 2001 if it would have been worth it but in my opinion it won't be.

Well, just maybe it will have the components to make modding it worth it! We'll just have to wait and see!

I saw the 35th Anniversary today...I dig it. I think I'm going for it. I called SLP today to see if the 345hp option (Dual-Dual Performance package) was available on the 35th Anniversary. They said yes, but I have to order it after August 1st.
So if I get one of the dealer's allocations, do you think the dealer will let me put off ordering it until August 1st?

Kevin-if you order the car now, it won't get built until after 8/1 anyhow. The GM plant is shut down until 7/23. By the time your order got in the system and built, it'll be after 8/1. If you find a dealer with an 35th allocation, just make sure they add the Y2Y exhaust package.

i was lucky, i was able to get my 2002 SS this last sat. before the plant shut down. you could have ordered your 2002 SS way back in april, but not the anniversary edition.
