OK, here is the question, Mary and I have been looking at installing the MAF from SLP but are not sure if we should go for it. So far we have installed the slp y-pipe, loudmouth, atm, air lid and K&N filter. Would going with the SLP MAF do anything for us or is this part only for engines that have internal modifications? How many of you ave installed it? Just trying to justify the cost of this. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Keep it safe,

Ralph

I am currently looking at getting one now and it looks to be a good mod. You don't need internal mods to do the MAF but if you are running lean at all you may not want to get it or else your engine will ping. I'm running really rich so I think it will help me out quite a bit.

Hard question. I put one on my 00 SS, working in conjunction with the SLP cold air pickup, K&N filter, Direct-Flo lid, SLP Y pipe and SLP loudmouth exhaust. When I dynoed the car recently, it was pinging at high RPM, but that was quickly cured by removing the SLP AIT sensor, which was giving too much timing advance. My solution to be on the safe side is to use some Moroso (or other good brand) octane booster. I don't think the large MAF would be a problem for you, but I do think it helps most with engines that have internal breathing mods such as a cam giving more valve lift and duration. Is it worth the $$$? Well, there are other things you could spend it on such as stiffer anti-roll bars, for example.

Collin and Paul, thank you for the replies, this helped, we will just have to think about it some more.

I put on the Granatelli. Hard to say if there is an improvement. I have the 98 with the larger injectors so it handled the extra air flow, some 99's and up may have a lean out problem with it.

I'd give it a try.

My $0.02.

Yep, have not been around much, working to much does that, I need to spend more time here, post pictures, talk to good people, never seems to be enough hours in a day huh?

Mary is wanting to spend her winnings from the Milan show and the MAF seemed like a good choice, just don't want to do anything without knowing all the facts, Keep in touch, keep it safe,,,
