I woke up this morning and started my 35 minute trek to work. I no more got out on the highway and had a silver 98 Mustang GT with "Supercharged and Intercooled" written on his windsheild banner.
I let him pull up along side me on the interstate.. traffic was empty.. and I walked away from him with his giving it what he had... I looked down and was at 130. I backed off and he was about 4-6 car lengths back.. his car's supercharger definately helped him out.
Then a mitsubishi eclpyse (a 96-98 I would say) in black with all tints and the coffee can exhaust pulls up and traffic is dead again.. I walked him like he was standing still.. and again.. hit about 120 before letting off..
I slowed down.. and thought to myself..
"ARE YOU STUPID J.R... you are absolutly STUPID.. you have a child, and you could have blown a tire.. or who knows."
My lesson for the day.. DO NOT as I do.. racing is stupid, pointless.. my car is fast.. and why must I prove this... its just SO HARD to back down from a good challenge... especially yhe mustang.

Precisely the reason my plate reads "POSSUM" .... just 'cuz I don't doesn't mean I can't, or don't want to!!
When we think of all the things that can go wrong, and turn our lives, the lives of our loved ones, and anyone else that happens upon our path, upside down and inside out, vs. the adrenaline hit we get ... it seems like a no-brainer ... but still one of the toughest things to do.

I must admit suppressing the urge to flat out nail the accelerator to the floor everytime someone taunts me in a Mustang is a tough one. I dont know how many times an eighteen year old kid has tailgated me for blocks, just egging me on to stab it, or yelled out at a stop light "Light em up!" To reiterate what the others have said and a word to the wise: Theese cars ARE fast and there is a simple pleasure in knowing you dont have to prove it everytime you get behind the wheel. Lets be careful out there, our kids need us around. Posted by KevinA (Member # 139) on :
I have to remind myself of that too. I raced a mustang with my Maxima, he didn't pass me until we hit 105 Hence "Slow Satng". Then I thought the same thing. I'm a dad, I shouldn't do these stupid things anymore.

That is what the dragstrip is for. After looking at my time slip I finally realized how fast it really is.
But if give a smooth road blocked off, straight for about 3 miles, I would without thought, grab a helmet and bury the needle but I don't think the chances of that ever happening are to high.

120 / 130 down the straight, several times a session.
