Just curious, how many cars will it park when it's finished? Also, will you put in a drvieway?

The garage measures 24 feet wide and 66 feet deep. The door will measure 10' x 20'. There are no posts (that tall engineered vertical I-beam you see in the pics is what holds the building up!).

The ceiling is 11 feet high to accommodate our vintage, 21 foot Terry travel trailer.

The side room is 10 feet wide by 33 feet deep.

The back half of the garage and the side room will have an 800 square foot storage area that will serve as our living quarters while we remodel the house in a couple of years.

A hoist will be installed in the far left hand corner. There will be two dormer windows above it to allow natural light in. That's the only area in the back half that won't have a second story.

It will be climate controlled.

Our calculations give us storage for 9 cars and the travel trailer.

We currently have 6.5 Camaros, my Chevelle and Steve's El Camino.

When we remodel the house, it will get a 6' porch and an upstairs with more bedrooms, bathrooms, and an additional 3 car garage. That gives us room for a mid-year Corvette and a Z06 someday.

We will pour a driveway when it's all done.

When it's finished, we're going to have a party and invite all of our friends over, along with the contractors that worked on various parts of it. Anyone who wants to make the drive is most welcome!

This is my kind of place--but why bother to remodel the house?

The house is only 900 square feet. We need room to host our friends when they come visit from all over the country.
We also have a lot of collectible type stuff to display.

We'll end up with a 2200 sq. ft. house that if a future buyer wanted to put in the walls upstairs, could end up w/ a 5 bedroom 3 bath house.

We're also going to add a 3-car garage to the other side of the house for either daily drivers or the convertibles (haven't decided).

The 3-car garage could be converted into a games room and would be great for a big family.

For now, we'll just make a big master bedroom upstairs with a big open area for display cases, a guest room over the garage and keep one guest room downstairs (in case one of our moms needs it).

We're also going to expand & update the kitchen for entertaining. It still has the original 1935 linoleum in it!

This whole thing is being built with our friends and family in mind so they can come visit and hang out and be comfortable too.

Current house (yes, that awful roof gets torn off!):

After the remodel:

Here's the house we're modeling it after:

Teri,
I was just putting you on. I would be happy with your garage and no house at all (I can't say the same for my wife).

Oh, I know what you mean.....we've always had the idea of BIG garage, small house. The more we thought about it though, we realized we could do both!
The bummer part about it is we'll have more to clean!
