Last month I had the SLP lid and Cold Air Induction kit (along with the MAF and Loudmouth) installed on my 2000 SS at SLP in Troy. I asked the service manager if they block of inlet for the hoodscoop when you install the CAI, he told me no. I guess when I checked out what they did to my car, I didn't notice, but yesterday when I was installing my STB, I noticed they put a rubber flap in the intake under the lid where the hood inlet matches up to!!!!! What the heck? So can anyone tell me if you are supposed to block off the hood induction when putting in the CAI?? Thanks, Darren

There is a rubber "flap" at the bottom of the air inlet in the stock configuration. If the "mailslot" is still there the inlet is not blocked.
The FTRA system is a little different ... the ducting extends right down to the air deflector and a block off is included to ensure any ramming effect gained goes towards the motor.

what poSSum said. The Fast Toys Ram Air you do block it off.
I think SLP also puts a weatherstripping type of material across the slot. It will make it more of a ram air effect.
