I posted this on SLP's board, but I figure the more info I can obtain the better.
I'm considering spending next years "toy" budget on the headers. However, I have a few rookie questions to ask. My car is not too modded at this point, I have replaced the lid and MAF, as well as added the CAI. I also have the Loudmouth Exhaust. Now I live in Michigan, so there is no law issues with me running the race pipes. I understand the race pipes have a better flow, and have the O2 sensors to keep the OBD II compliant. However, I may drag the car a little, mostly I just have fun with it on the street. So it's not like it would kill me having the cats. I would like to know are there any technical problems that are more likely to happen running the race pipes rather then the cats? I heard a lot about people getting SES lights after going to the LT's. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Darren

I don't think you'll have any problems but the longtubes with race pipes and loudmouth is gonna be LOUD. I'd probably just keep the cats on you won't lose very much power at all and it will quiet the car down a bit.

I have seriously been thinking of spending my fun money on LT's next spring as well! I have heard alot of differing opinions on this mod! I saw the dyno #'s from SLP on their Ultra Z project car and they claim the advertised 41 hp with minor bolt ons and a cam. I have also seen comments on LS1.com that the #'s have been nowhere near that, more like 10-12 hp. From what I have read heads and a cam really make the LT's even more valuable! It is hard to know what to think with so much information available. I have the dual dual as a cat back so if I were to chose I would go with the race pipe but we have to get an emission test every two years here so that won't work. It would be nice for you to hear how loud the LT's and the LM would be. To each his own I guess??! Dave
