Well after a lot of walking, a lot of refusing to take no for an answer, and a lot of talking, I got her out. The devastation in the area is indescribable. In the garage, there was two to three inches of gray powdery dust mixed with millions of sheets of paper. The windows of the car were open so the exterior and the interior are covered with the same gray powder, but other than the a huge clean up she is in good shape. I don't even know where to begin to clean all the dust, but I'll tackle that early tomorrow.
Thanks every body for your wishes of support, for a minute there I thought I wasn't going to see the car for months.
I took some rushed pictures in the garage, the police seargeant was not very interested in my doing a big photo shoot.
The police by the way were great, my hat off once again to the NYPD.

I believe his car was in a parking garage near the world trade center when the big fiasco happened...

Yes the car was one block inside the "secured area", two blocks from the WTC. It sits directly behind my office building, that's the tall black building with the piece of the world trade center stuck in the front. The office building is 39 stories, the parking garage is 4, so it was protected from the blast. What amazed me when I entered was the quiet. I think because if the thick layer of dust on everything, all sounds are absorbed. When I got inside, everything was gray, with two inches of the dust on the ground intermingled with millions of sheets of computer paper. I was just hoping that it would not be blocked in. When I got to the third floor, there she was, tucked in a corner at the top of the ramp.
I took a quick couple of photos, (I'll have those alter this week) and climbed in. When I exited the garage, the slight breeze outside blew all of this dust off the car creating this cloud around me as I rolled slowly down the block toward the checkpoint.
A couple of cops came over to look...beautiful car they said, six speed?said one, fast? said another. "Now you see why I was anxious to get her" I said, thanked them all sincerely for their help and made my way north and home. What a long strange trip indeed!

Yes, good suggestion, I'll do that first AM. The cleaning is done - 5 hours - took before and after pics, I'll have them all later this week.
