.... was spent at Summit Point Saturday. That week-end was the last track event for the season. Jesse and I went up for the Hi Performance Driving Event that is available thru N.A.S.A., and it's a 'blast 'n a half'. Besides our 4th gen Camaros, there was also a Firebird, a 3rd gen 'bird and a 2nd gen Camaro.

Also in our family is a blue and grey <A HREF="http://albums.photopoint.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=764910&a=13807539&p=54609390&f=0 " TARGET=_blank>'87 Pontiac Trans Am</A>. It has a GMPP ZZ 350, L98 aluminum 'vette heads, SLP & AS n'M TPI setup, using an Edelbrock Hi-Flo base, LT4 Hot Cam, SLP SS headers, 'Y' pipe & 'Cat-Back' exhaust. 5-spd, WS6 suspension and a 9 bolt. Also in attendance are some Spohn weld in SFC's, adj LCA's and adj PanHard rod. This winter I'll add the 8pt rollcage I have sitting in the garage.

Looks like an awesome time! How hard is road racing on the SS. I bet it doesn't take long to warp a set of OEM rotors. Thanks for the pics!

The SS takes a day of road racing just fine. We have many hours on the track at Bragg-Smith and they use Vettes and SS's. The rotors are not too much of a problem as long as you treat them right. Having said that, I replaced my rotors on my SS with Cryogenically treated rotors before I spent a day at Lime Rock with my SS.
With the Z06 I didn't touch the brakes and had mo problem at all.

the SS handles the track just fine. I wore out the Hoosiers Saturday, up front, due to stock alignment, but I got several good sessions out of them first. My front rotors are the GMPP rotors with the Hawk 'black' pads. Not a problem. Even when we were given the 'red' flag (all cars stop, immmediately where you are) and the smoke was rolling off of them. Then I got a cool down lap after several minutes. No problem.

there were several incidents, but not in our run group. They sometimes throw the red flag near the end of a session to see if we're paying attention. Next year I'll have the T/A to take to the track. Lottsa work this winter on it. See the new sig.
