Thanks all for the ideas on mounting switch locations for the power antenna. I've come up with a good solution, hope to post picks this weekend.

However, I'm not sure how the power antenna mounts in the car. It certainly doesn't match up with the bolt hole it's replacing. Can anyone describe how the antenna is mounted to the spare tire bracket? Pics would be nice, but I guess not likely. With it hanging from the fender, looks like it's straight, but the mounting bracket isn't near any metal.

Any help would be appreciated, I can send a pic of what I'm talking about, but I don't have anywhere to post it right now.

Mark.

Hmmm, let's see if I can remember. The antenna comes with its own mounting bracket, it doesn't mount to the spare tire bracket. There's a place in the wheel well where it screws into - it looks like it is a small reinforcing bar. It actually mounts very similar to the stock antenna, it just takes up more room because of the motor unit.

The way it mounts to the fender is a little different than stock. It is hard to explain...the antenna comes all apart. You may have to drill the hole out a little larger. I thought I would have to but it wound up fitting in the hole with a little persuasion.

You need to fit the rubber base piece onto the fender by itself. Then work the tip of the antenna unit thru from the inside of the trunk and mount it so it is secure. Then you can screw the top ring on the outside of the antenna base. I used two screwdrivers since I didn't have the right tool.

Don't forget you need to allow the antenna to drain. I actually drilled a small hole in the bottom of the spare tire well and used the rubber grommet that came with the antenna along with a length of rubber tubing.

How's that for a confusing run thru? I can try to take some pics tomorrow night but may have trouble loading them thru my dial up connection.

Good luck
