.................. to find both the IROC and the Astro Van there. Hmmmmm, what did Steve drive? I don't remember hearing the '69 502 fire up. He left too quietly.........so I looked in the garage to find my little 6-cyl '67 Convertible gone.
I guess it's going to get it's spring tune-up and a dyno run today......anyone care to wager how much h.p. it's going to show us?

Remember that crate in the corner of the shop? ..... oops ... we weren't supposed to say anything

I'm guessing around 100 HP or so ... and a little more torque.

I had a 6 banger '64 Chevelle. I think it was rated at about 130 HP. So, 130 minus about 20%, I'd say poSSum's pretty close. My guess is about 105 to 110 at the rear wheels.

The air cleaner sticker says 140, but I'm sure it'll come out lower than that.

If we're guessing I'll go with 108.

Actually, peak hp was 84.9 at about 3800 rpm, and peak torque was 151.9 at about 1700 rpm ( and falls evenly from there!). A/F ratio was 13.2 to 1(kinda lean). So with more fuel, it MAY get 100hp, but the engine is tired, and I dont want to get into tuning it because if I richen WOT, it will also richen cruise, and I dont want any worse mileage(it already only gets about 20mpg or so).

What a rocket-ship!!

It's a really fun car to drive though, and it actually moves ok once you are above 30mph. It has 2.73 gears, so its kinda slow off the line!!

It's a great little cruising car. Maybe someday we can freshen up the engine. I want to keep it a numbers matching car though, so the 6 banger stays.

I agree. It's a great looking car.
I just wish I still had my '64 red Malibu, 2 door hardtop, 6 banger.

That's a beauty (who's the sexy blonde behind the wheel? )! I am impressed, 85 hp to the rear wheels from a 35 year old GM 6 cylinder. Amazing what regular maintainace will do for a car. I would agree, "Keep your GM all GM", or at least that one. One day I will own a 67 (Z28 preferably).

So, whatcha' say to 10:1 pistons, big cam, head porting, extrude honed exhaust manifold, larger 2 barrel, recurved distributor.....can you say 175hp!? And it'll still "look" stock! Come on Steve you know you want to......(peer pressure can be hell! LOL!!)

I attended a Super Chevy Sunday in the 80's that I saw a 1969 Camaro convertible that had the 250ci inline 6 cylinder. This Camaro was named the "Buzzin 1/2 Dozen" and would run in the 11's. The owner stated that to be in his class the engine had to be 250ci. It did have a 4 bbl Q-Jet on it and a Clifford long tube header. I don't know what was done to the cylinder head or lower end,but this car was fast! There is an altered race car at our local track that runs a Ford 300ci straight 6 ,that runs consistant 12.90's! That car is light with a fiberglass body and tube frame. I wonder if your 6 will like a 50-75hp shot of NOS?
