I just had the cone of silence removed yesterday and after driving 100 miles or so during the day the service engine light came on. Has anyone had this problem after the removal or any suggestions that I could take to find out what is throwing the light on.

Never heard of that causing a light. I guess there's always a first time.
It might be just a coincidence. Just reset everything and if the light comes on again I'd head to the dealer.

I doubt that the removal of the cone caused the SES light, being that you have the OBDII system vertually every part of the car is monitored by sensors, it might be an air related problem, air pump, EGR, or something to that nature. You might want to take it to the dealer and find out the exact problem, if you reset the computer by taking off the negative battery cable the SES light will go out, but only for a few day's until you find out what code it's throwing.

Is your gas cap on tight? Sometimes that will make the SES light come on.

Who removed it and how was it done? Perhaps in the process, an 02 sensor was disturbed or something mishandled that would cause the SES light.

I finally brought the car to the dealer to find out what was causing the light to come on. It was the EGR and they replaced it under my extended warranty. Thanks everyone who gave their input to this problem.
