Hey Steve, I'm about due for a clutch in my SS. I have abused this one enough, time to start on another. A little birdy, allright it wasn't a birdy, it was a goldilox, told me to ask you about the install. She also told me you had a McLeod. How do you like it. Any advice welcome. I am pretty handy and changed a clutch on my Datsun B210 GX many moons ago. Is this something I can do in my garage on jack stands? How hard is it to drop the tranny and more important, how hard to get it back in? ETC ETC ETC

Yes you can do it on the floor, if you have good heavy duty jackstands and can lift it a good 18" off the floor for working room.( and for safety ). I like the McCloud, it seams to work pretty well. Nice pedal pressure/effort, etc. My complaint is that it comes with 4 or 5 different shims, and the directions are not very clear on which one to use. Just make sure you replace the flywheel too(it comes in the kit), and use the shim for the stock clutch, un-machined flywheel(I think the directions kinda tell you the different choices). Also, I would HIGHLY recommend while you have it apart to take off the line from the master cyl and drill it out. I dont know the size off-hand, but I'm sure you can find it online someplace as to what size to drill the restriction out to. Also, you can probably call McCloud and ask them, as it was their advise to do this (which I have not yet done). A word of advise: eat your wheaties, and have a friend over to help, its a VERY heavy tranny!!! After you get it in and bleed the clutch, check the pedal release height, if its not right, you will have to R&R and change shims!! (It may be a little different=ok, not engaging/dissengaging=wrong). Thanks Steve, that is what I was looking for. The biggest thing I was worried about was gettnig bolts out to drop the tranny and then getting the tranny to fit back in. I have always found that part difficult.

Yea, actually I did. I am not decided on what to do yet. Just know that I want the clutch and hopefully some suspension stuff done before Bowling Green.

That could work for me. Not only that - I got a friend that works at Danny's Transmission. I used to give him all my hard stuff to do. C'mon down a day or 2 early and we'll get it done.
