I also have been having a problem where sometimes when its cold outside, and we start the blazer..
the stearing wheel will NOT move to the right until the car is warmed up.. something wrong with
power steering.
So.. I call the dealership.. tell them whats up.. and mention that I have a recall notice as well as
the power steering issue. He asks for details (he had never heard of the recall).. I said.. its for
2001 Blazers... I asked him if he would need to order parts before I come in.. he said.. nahh..
bring it in.. recalls are easy to deal with.. bad thing.. he needs me to bring it on a saturday and
LEAVE it with him he said.. cause they are booked..
So.. almost 1 week and 1/2 later.. on a saturday morning my wife drives it there since I am out of
town... which was a huge problem since it was her only ride.. she had to get her Mom to pick her
up....
6 hours later the dealership calls back.. says.. I'm going to quote the conversation to the best of
my ability..
"First off Maam, the parts to fix your Blazer have to be ordered. We have done that and will send
you a letter in the mail when they are in? Probably a week or so.... Also, regarding the power
steering you mentioned.. we turned the car on and the steering wheel moved just fine. You will have
to duplicate the problem in front of us for us to even look at it. You can come get your car
whenever you are ready."
My wife drives back.. gets her car.. (once again bumming a ride to get there)
The part that gets me here is that they admitted that they didn't even look underneath the car to
see if there might be a NOTICABLE problem, leak.. anything in the power steering.. or anything that
could be causing it... they just said they turned the car on and the wheel didnt move. I wasn't
expecting them to replace the power steering on the car.. just look and tell me they have no idea
what was causing our problems.
Second off.. I was obviously pretty pissed that I asked them specifically if they needed parts.. and
yet they made me wait 1 1/2 weeks to drop the blazer off just to tell me they had to order parts.

Fortunately, my man at the dealership is the fleet manager, and he always arranges an interesting demo for me when our vehicles are in for service. The last one was a Vibe GT.
