My low coolant light has come on and won't go off. I checked the overflow tank, plenty of level. When it was cold I took the radiator cap off, full. I disconnected the battery and reset the PCM. Light is still on.
Noticed this started during a cruise night. Had been idling in slow traffic for a while. Parked it for a while. Then when I started it up to go home the light came on and the temp shot up to 230-240 (not in the red). Got on the freeway and the temp dropped back to normal. (original thermostat, 10,500 miles on the car)
She runs cool in the normal temperature range. If restarted hot sometimes the light doesn't come on.
Anyone have any ideas or more things to try?

There is a float in the overflow tank, if it's stuck or defective, that will turn the light on. Once the problem is resolved it takes several "drives" to turn it off. Mine was on after my other chevy had the radiator flushed, went off and stayed off after 3 days.

I had the same Problem, talked to alot of people about it. I finally went the most common answers ignore it, and disconect the sensor.

I had the same problem. Its the coolant sensor that gets screwed up. 1st time I took it to dealer and they replaced it. IT worked fine for about a year. 2nd time I took it out a cleaned it myself. It worked fine for another year. This spring light came on again so I unplugged it and wrapped electricians tape around it and hung it out of the way. Now no more problems except you have to check the level once and a while which is no problem.. Hope this helps..
