As I haven't kept up with the board completely in the past couple of months due to Suz health issues, plus work, I don't know what comments, if any, have been made about the coming of the next generation of the Pontiac GTO...aka the Holden Monaro!
I still feel that if this move is successful, GM just might do the 5th Gen Camaro on the same chassis with either the LS-1 or a variation of the Northstar or some other V-8 in the front end, and some styling cues to make it different than the GTO. Unfortunately, they're speculating the car won't make horsepower equal to the base model Corvette, so that would be less than 350hp. But the Monaro is smaller, and lighter than the current Camaro!
Even though I think GM would want the next generation to appeal to more females than the 4th Gen, it still should be recognizable as an American muscle car.
As one of the articles on the new GTO pointed out though, if GM is thinking about going this route, there will be a serious shortage of production space for the chassis in the one plant in the world that build it.
My speculation is, and I'm certainly not working with all the facts GM has, that with the Camaro coming back and possibly a Firebird variation, there would be enough demand for either a new chassis plant or an older plant being refurbished.
I don't expect any of this before the GTO is introduced in '03, so we're probably looking at '05 before the 5th Gen debut...hey, I see a marketing ploy there!

He Andy,
Long time, no see!. Are you going to Escondido
next Friday night? CCSD has a reserved spot
there, the block of Broadway between Grand Ave
and 2nd street. We're hoping for a big turnout.

I have those pictures of your car we talked
about. I can give then to you there or at the
next CCSD meeting.
