Dear Friends........

Wanted to share some of the recent "Quality Ratings" of Chevrolet Cars
versus the industry..........

We all hear from time to time that American cars cannot compete
quality-wise......well, the latest J.D. Power figures prove that this
simply is not so.................

Chevy Car at 109 PPH is better than Toyota Car or Mercedes Car, and is only
1 PPH worse than Honda. Industry Car average was 125 PPH. Here are the
car PPH for the big full-line players:

Honda: 108
Chevrolet: 109
Toyota: 112
Total Car: 125
Ford: 137
Dodge: 141

Note: Luxury makes like Lexus, BMW, Cadillac, and Acura grabbed the
top spots in the car rankings.

Also, the Chevrolet Monte Carlo had the 2nd best PPH (90) of any GM model
and was 9th best overall.

The Chevrolet sedan lineup had a tremendous showing in the new IQS:
Model PPH
Malibu: 93
Cavalier (sedan only): 101
Prizm: 104
Impala: 110

Compare to Honda:

Model PPH
Accord 102
Civic (sedan only) 111

...to Toyota:

Model PPH
Corolla 101
Camry (sedan only) 116
Echo 117
Avalon 122

...to Ford

Model PPH
Taurus 132
Crown Vic 134
Focus 136

And Finally....Camaro....

While the number at 148 appears high, you'll note that all other cars in
this segment are also high.....due, in part, to the "enthusiast" nature of
the entries..... (for instance, on Camaro -- 50% of problems are exterior
appearance and trim..and next highest is interior trim at 17%......)

Miata 122
MR2 Spyder 125
Celica 127
RSX 131
Camaro 148
Mustang 154
Eclipse 165
Cougar 166
Firebird 169
Stratus 171
Sebring 173
VW Cabrio 182
VW GTI 214

Just thought you'd want to know this the next time someone makes a remark
about your American car...............

So I guess a higher number is worse..........interesting info. Us picky people about the fit/finish of our cars!
Funny the Firebird was higher than the Camaro!
Thanks, Scott, for the info!

Oppps (blushing....)

Yes...PPH stands for "Problems per hundred" meaning that a lower number is better....

My remarks about the exterior....enthusiasts tend to take better care of their cars...(such as handwashing and Zaino-ing) where the average driver does not do this....thus, enthusiast cars always score "lower" (higher number) on exterior areas and interior areas....

Thanks for explaining that!

Hehehe...I guess my near-dozen visits to the dealer for fit and finish fit right in.

I think I'm not helping those numbers either. Especially after GM called last night to find out how my last trip to the dealer went. I was polite but wasn't going to let the dealer get away with giving me another bad paint job and telling me that it was as good as it gets.
