Ugh, rough one this morning for me.

I'm going to order some of the GM weatherstripping lubricant from GMpartsdirect.com for my T-top seals. They sell it six tubes in a pack. If anyone would like to split the order with me please feel free to drop me a line. I believe the stuff is $33 plus shipping which would put it around $40. If anyone is interested in splitting the cost right down the center (for three tubes each) please let me know.

Good morning everybody!

I had a ton of fun at the track day with the Corvette club on Monday! I was actually able to keep up with a grand sport and a ZO6 pretty well in the old '69. I was pretty happy with the car,and just wish I had some better/wider tires! [Big Grin]

Thanks for asking Greg!! I got it done. The caliper slides on both rears were frozen solid . I used and impact gun with my compressor, heat and tapping with a hammer but finally got them out as well as the broken one. I got a round wire brush and cleaned the holes for the slides in the caliper bracket really good and then when I put them back together with new slides, I lubed them really well. I used antiseize on all the bolts.

All tolled, it cost her about 110 bucks instead of 1K!! What a ripoff. They really try that on young ladies, don't they!! It's sad and unfair.

They were going to replace the rear calipers when all they really needed to do was free up the slides. Whoever had the car before her, probably didn't lube them.

She is taking me and Grace out for dinner tonight!

Dan, glad to hear that the brake job did not cost an arm and a leg. Make sure your daughter uses the parking brake on a regular basis and the will help keep the moving parts freed up! I got my wife doing that years ago when she had a 1983 Olds Toronado that had rear disc brakes. If the caliper lever got seized,the self adjusting mechanism would not work and you would end up with a low brake pedal. She has been using the parking brake on each car since then even if they were automatics! My kids even followed her as well. [Smile]
