Do you rotate your tires regularly? What tire pressure cold? What tire pressure hot? How many miles? Does the inside of the tire wear different? I assume that is a front tire? Any mods to suspension?

I rotate the ries regularly, and I have 11K on my car with original tires. And I keep the tire pressure at what is reccomended (30-34psi?) The inside of the tire doesnt wear like that at all. I think it might have to do with my driving habits perhaps. I'm not sure. No mods to suspension, and Those tires were on the rear, but I just had them rotated at 10k. The only thing I notice is that when I make a sharp turn sometimes, I can hear the wheels 'queal' a tiny bit.
Oh, and I guess I'll have to find some other place to host pics! Back to the drawing board.

They shouldn't wear like that. You either have to try other tire pressure or get you aligment checked. I drive hard all the time in both my cars and don't have that kind of wear. I recently did a track day (with Thom1) and I checked my tire pressure after almost every run. It is amazing the difference in the wear patterns and pressure when the heat changes. At the track I took air out after every run. Started the day at 36 lbs cold and it went to 42 after a run and the wear was not nearly as far down the sidewall as it should be. So I took air out. This continued all day. The next day, cold pressure was 28 lbs! Now I am nack to 32 for the street. The point is, you have to experiment and keep track of the pressure. If it is not pressure, then you NEED an aligment. Make the dealer do it under warranty! GOod luck, hope that helps a little.

Just a little more. If you are checking the pressure when the tires are hot, it will be less when the tires are cold. Try 32 all around when the tires are cold. Maybe check pressure in the morning before you drive. By the way, 30-34 is a huge range. 1 lb makes a BIG difference.

It kinda look to me like your tire is rolling too far under the rim, thus wearing the outside while not wearng the top or the inside. This would indicate low pressure. If your driving style is to drive like at the track, I would run more pressure to prevent this. The ride would be rougher but the sidewall stiffer and you would be amazed at the better handling. Would be a great mod for you!! My previous post about the track was with my Z06. When I ran my SS at the track I ran 42 lbs in the front and 38 in the back! Maybe try 36 all around cold and see what the wear pattern is. Adjust from there. There are guys that know a lot more than me about tires here. Maybe they will chime in!!

Squealing tires are happy tires!!
You will get used to the changing tones in the "squeal". When they get to a certain tone, you know you are getting close to the limit of what the tire can hold. This is different for different tires. I don't get alot of warning with the F1 Supercar tires on the Z06 but I get a lot of warning with the KD's on the SS. I love that sound. It is fun!

Hehe...Thanks for your help! Great help/hints, etc. My one tire I see needs more air so I'll probably go tonight after work and put air in all the tires. Hopefully this will help. I'm gonna keep a close eye on the tires. It didn't seem right how they were wearing. And yah, I wasn't complaining about the sqealing Just didn't know if it had to do with how the tires were wearing. Thanks!!
