I added wireless web to mine. I have a data cable & software on its way to me that will supposedly let me connect my new cell phone to my laptop (14.4 connection speed) and will function as a wireless modem. We'll be testing it on our B.G. road trip and hopefully be able to post updates to you all from the road and give location updates for those of you trying to hook up with our caravan.

Won't that be cool! Posted by DanPazich (Member # 1352) on :
Make sure it works before you start your trip! hehe. I'm in the process of buying a new cell. My current one only can browse WAP enabled sites. What kinda cell did you get? Just curious. I'm looking to get that Toshiba from Sprint. So i can browse any website (will prove helpful during class when I start to fall asleep )
BTW, I think someone should try making this site WAP enabled in the meantime Posted by J.R. Mayer (Member # 713) on :
No.. she has a WIRELESS modem.. which is better than just WAP and web clipping. She will be able to use her laptop to check e-mail, surf the web using Internet Explorer etc.. but much slower than broadband or cable.
I work in the wireless field as well (mainly for credit card processing field in aviation and truck fueling.. but we have touched on this area many times..)
Sounds like Teri is wireless and on the go without needing to use a Hotel phone line and standard modem... she is wireless baby.. YEAH!
My cellular phone has infrared capablity so if your laptop has infrared you don't need the cable.. its pretty slow using them.. when you are used to fast connections.. but the point is... it WORKS

Very nice Teri!!
I've been testing a new 3G network and surfing either with a 2235 connected to my computer or with an Aircard at data bursts up to 130k per sec over wireless I love not having to be connected to anything. I'm sitting in a hotel room connected with the Aircard surfing right now.
Its still kind of dependent on cell loading though for data speeds.....so we are averaging 50kbps..not too bad for wireless
Teri, are you coming through Des Moines on your trip??

Well, I just downloaded the software that came w/my data cable connection for the cell phone, configured the COM1 port, and connected to the internet w/no problem.
I'm wireless right now! I'm sitting in the garage, w/out the land line connected, watching Steve pack the SST. I also just got a new hard drive from Dell to install, but probably won't attempt that until after our road trip (in case I screw something up).
We'll be able to say hello while we're on the road in digitally covered areas w/the cell phone now that I know it works....how cool is that?
