A friend of mine at work just bought a new 2002 ACR Viper. He let me drive it with only 600 miles on the clock...and we took it to the redline in 1st and second.

What fun! The torque was amazing. I was so happy for the rest of the day....now I need a super charger for the SS as I'm addicted!

Cool, I looked at an ACR a while ago but never drove it. It looks like great fun. How about that rear meat!!

Will an ACR beat an SS in the twisties?

The last time I checked, I think the power numbers for the 2002 Viper ACR are the same as a standard issue Viper (450hp/490tq), but the ACR is pretty much a stripped-down version. No A/C, no radio, etc... kind of like the earlier 90's 1LE package on the Z28s. As for the new 2003-up Viper it's pushing 500hp, not sure on the torque. These are mean cars! Watch out Z06 owners!

The neat thing I found about the AcR is it comes with Adjustable shocks, harness bar, harness along with the regular belts and those huge rear tires. I would like to try one on the track because if I ever bought one, it woudl not be for taking a ride around town!

Yeah, that ACR we checked out up at Fitzgerald's was awesome. I agree totally that it's best exploited on the track. You could put that thing sideways at will. Not the best choice for a first time sportscar buyer.

Now if you want a SERIOUS machine....them 300's are way cool... [Razz] [Razz] [Razz]

Hey Dan, weather permitting, Dave and I will be at the BK Cruise-In this coming Saturday. Hope you can spare a few minutes to stop by. [Smile] [Smile]

I'll try to make it Andy, I think I am home this Sat. I still see that yellow ACR in my mind!

Did you see the Black Viper at Gladstone's about 3 weeks ago? It had really low mileage and the previous owner had tricked it out with like $20k in stereo mods. The sales guy offered to put a plate on it for Dave and me, but I passed because I wasn't serious about the car and I didn't want the responsibility if I had an "owie" with it. They were asking in the mid 50's for it. The build-quality on this one was spotty however. It just felt clunky and not well put together. I did start it and run it a few minutes. It sounded nice, but your Z06 sounds a hundred times sweeter.

I saw it. If it ain't an ACR it ain't for me. I like the Z06 just fine!
