I'm pondering on what to do this winter. I need to get ready just in case of that snow. Either am going to go for those SLP firebird 16x8 take-offs and Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50's (would probably have to do soemthing about the tire size since they are different width tires) .... OR ....I'm just goign to replace my rear tires since they are pretty much bald (maybe 1-2 tenths left). I'd like to get the Yokohama AVS Sports and if if does snow, I'll add some weight to the trunk. What would you all do? The prices will come out close (maybe more for the wheel/tire set) But I need something this winter. Been pondering what to do all day, cause that time of year is approaching quickly! Thanks Y'all.

I'd strongly suggest going with the take-offs and winter tires. The narrower, higher profile, e.g. 215/60-16 tire works better in snow, plus, if you do slide and bump a curb or something you don't mess up your nice rims.
For the huge improvement you will get with true winter tires I wouldn't even bother with something as pricey as the Blizzaks .... we use Firestone WinterFires on our 2wd 1/2 ton work truck and they are fine.

Thanks...yeah, I think I'm leaning toward the take-offs and the winter tires. I priced the Bizzaks at $90 each. I'll have to check those others out. Thanks for teh suggestion. Also, i had 245/50-16 written down. Should I go with the 215/60-16 instead?

I ran 225/50 bridgestones on my 96 V6 bird for two winters, they were great, I wouldn't want to go any wider!

Yeah, i wasnt exactly sure what exactly what was compatible with thos 16x8 take-offs. if those 215/60-16 will fit, i will probably go with them. found them on tirerack.com for $65 each. i'll probably still shop around to se if i can get a better deal. Wow, i just got the 16x8 wheels and they look quite wide for the 215/60 16 tires I got!!! But I trust you all that they will fit.

was just wondering if anyone else has the setup (215/60 on 16x8 takeoffs) My mom dropped off all the stuff to the dealer and the one tech said they were having trouble getting that size tire to fit in the past They haven't tried with my tires and wheels yet, but I'm hoping this wont be a problem. Not sure of the kind of hassle I'll have to go through if I have to return the tires to tirerack just in case they dont fit. Thanks all who respond!
