I've heard a lot of bad comments on how it looks, blah blah blah ... but hey, it's got a 340HP engine, rear wheel drive, front mounted V8. Glad GM hasn't totally abondoned us. This is a very nice car. If I wasn't Camaro loyal, I'd buy it. [Smile]

Not bad, where can we get more driveline detail?

Posted by chrisL (Member # 97) on :

there is a little driveline info on the second link to the pontiac page.

looks like they are using the fcar drivetrain... LS1 w/4L60-E or our six speeds

Holden has been building these cars for years, racing them successfully, too.
The new GTO should do fairly well.

Nice...

Not aggressive enough looking for my liking

I like it a lot! Looks like maybe I'll have to make one of those my new daily driver in 2005. I'll give them a year to get the bugs out and bump up the horsepower. I bet they'll be very BMW-ish. Nice! [Cool]

Like I said over at the SLP board. I REALLY REALLY like the GTO.

the F-body is dead. Gone, finis, outtahere, seeya..adios....

We all complained that GM left us no course on an affordable performance sedan. GUess what gang? This is it! And I can't wait to see one in person! Because I REALLY like them (oh wait I said that already)

V8 power
Manual Transmisson
REAR WHEEL DRIVE
4 Wheel INDEPENDENT suspension

Tried and true Holden package.

99HOSS!! Hey maybe we should go over to Burdette Bros Pontiac to see if we can get information on them!?!? Whaddaya think!?!?

I'm sorry but to me the front looks like a re-done Gread Prix/Grand Am. The back looks like a mustang. After the auto show mabey I'll have a different outlook but the looks are not unique to me.....just my .02 worth.

I like it a lot. As far as looks go, it looks more like a Mazda/Honda/Toyota/Nissan. I am not all that crazy about the looks of imports but then again are there really ANY cool looking cars out there that we can afford?

My Dad ordered a 1965 GTO and kept it for 15 years...he and my mom loved that car. They need a new car too...maybe this will be what they are looking for. [Wink] [Big Grin]

Uuuhh, son.......you get a raise??!!

Based somewhere on the wrong side of $35k, +++ dealer greed and you're looking at $40k min. and the sky's the limit when it hits the ground....limited production, LS6 in 2005 and the Corvette now looks affordable.

Personally, my definition of "affordable" is on the good side of $30k...waaaay on the good side......

Flame suit on.....

It looks like a Honda Accord.........with a wing..

Sorry, it just does not do it for me looks wise. It needs a more aggressive look.

My burnt .02 worth.

Hi Dad!!! Nope just dreaming right now. I hope Pontiac doesn't screw up and bring it in at 40K, plus with many dealers, not all, marking them up another 10K. THats gonna suck.

Hey I am PRAYING that the price hangs around 30K! I am hoping after the 1st year they realize the market is HUGE for this car. Heck ANY of the Holden cars would be cool with me.

Let's just say that IF Pontiac can keep the $$ down around $30k......they'll sell more GTO's than Holden can build......which I'm sure would please half the enthusiast planet......me included..... [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

I like it! I like it alot. It could use dual exhaust. That would help it look a lot less like an import.

Even though the looks are "modern" / "import" I think it's clean and better than any other new American car. This body style may just grow on all of us. I'll bet when we look back on it in 10 years we will all like it.

The interior is nice and it would be cool to have Independent rear suspension and a real back seat with a trunk.

I will not give up my 2000 SS for it, but I am glad to see they are building it. I think they will be fun to modify and trick out later on....like years from now.

I have been waiting for this day for a long time. I can say first hand that the Australians/Americans have done an outstanding job on making this dream a reality. Working with the engineers @ Powertrain in Melbourne in July and in America in the months following really made me realize why I love GM so. Do not judge this car until you see it in person!!

By the way, it feels real nice circling an oval track at ~175mph in this thing!!!

Hopefully my driveway will look like this around October:
