Need to replace the clutch. I am going with a Zo6 setup and want to change the flywheel to a billet steel(30 lbs) or aluminum with a steel insert(15lbs). Any Thoughts on the subject.

From what I have read....this is not from personal experience...the light weight flywheel will let you rev faster.

This is supposed to give the car a nice seat of the pants increase in performance.

I know my clutch won't last too long either. I am planning on a light flywheel. SLP sells a kit and I think it is the Zo6 clutch with thier clutch.

The Z06 clutches that I have seen come with a flywheel in the kit.

It is 2:30 am and its snowing. Have to wake up in about an hour and plow again. Still kind of snow bound.

Ahhhhh, The acrid smell of burning clutch mixed ever so gently with clouds of fried rubber. Almost brings a tear to my eye. [Razz]

It always hurts when it happens. Oh wait that's Jennifer hitting me for doing it. [Big Grin]

Go check out the current (March 2003)GMHTP - there's a whole article on this exact subject - and the SLP Aluminum flywheel. Interestingly enough, Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center (ad on pg. 27 same issue) has just started marketing an alumium flywheel that is only 13lbs. - 3 lbs. lighter than the SLP unit!

Best regardSS,

Elie

The SLP lightweight flywheel is billet STEEL not aluminum. That's why it's heavier.

My Star Spec stage 3 clutch & aluminum flywheel weighed 10 lbs less than the stock flywheel & clutch.

I would fully recommend an aluminum flywheel.

Thanks Gordon - I read the ad and didn't even tweak in to the difference!

Best regardSS,

Elie
