CAT(s). My neighbor has 16 cats that he lets roam the neighborhood.
Needless to say one of the cats got in the garage and sprayed. Now everything in the garage smells like cat piss. Thank GOD it did not spray inside one of the cars, just on the floor and some insulation.
Have spoken to the neighbor several times about his fu#@in cats and he won't do anything about them. Have also called animal control, but there is no leash law for cats, and they can only give me traps to catch them in and they will come pick up the cats once they are caught. The catch to that is they will contact the owner and he will more than likely go and get them from the shelter.
My question:
Does anyone know what will take the smell out of concrete?? The insulation will have to be taken to the dump, but I can't very well get rid of the floor.

You may try washing it down with some Simple Green.

My sympathies I have 3 female cats and the neighbourhood male cats are constantly spraying up against our walkout door, and in our window wells. FWIW, the smell seems to go away in about a day or so (exposed to outside air) and does not seem to be permamnent. Although their spraying seems to be a "permamnent" activity. as well as the Simple Green, maybe try a healthy does of Lysol. If the smell in the garage persists and you have an electrical outlet in there, get one of those deodorizer thingies that plugs in - they work very well at masking the smell of cat piss. I know that I have to be very diligent about keeping our garage doors closed - my worry is that the cat will jump up on the car. Have you ever seen a cat try andjump up on a car that is Zaino'ed to within an inch of its life. They don't seem to realize that their claws will not keep them from sliding off! Good luck!

You can also buy a small bag of the deodorizing cat litter (not the chrystals), spread that over the area and rub it in with you foot. The clay will absorb the moisture and the particles do a pretty good job on the odor.
Then there are some good "pet odor" sprays on the market. Finally, you might consider some of the spray designed to keep pets off of furniture to dissuade them from visiting again.

I would add a pellett gun to my shopping list!! That is one of my pet peeves, no pun intended. I have to make sure my dogs aren't running around the neighborhood, but the frekin cats can come over here, eat my birds, tease my dogs, jump on my cars, whatever. It ain't right! The get a pellet in the butt when I see them! Only 1 or 2 pumps but they get the message!

I just went down to the garage and inspected the cars. They have put some pretty good scratches in my 35th.
I am not pleased at all with these cats. I have also tried speaking to the idiot who owns all these cats but he just doesn't care.
My husband has gone to get a humane trap for them, and we are going to catch them and release them in the country somewhere.

Yeah I know about the scratches, that's why I put blankets under the car cover.

I certainly understand your anger and frustration! I hope a couple of applications of the Z-5 will eliminate those scratches. Before taking the cats out into the country and dumping them, please consider the fact that what happened was not the fault of the cats - it was really the fault of the owner who enables them to cause this damage by allowing them to roam around at will. The cats were only doing what comes naturally. Unfortunately, what cats do naturally, is very often "counter-productive" to our goals (to put it mildly). I'm not trying to start up any conflicts here - and far be it for me to tel anyone how to handle a situation like this. I believe that everybody is entitled to do whatever they want to resolve stuff like this as long as no laws are being broken, but there is an excellent chance that these cats will experience an unpleasant death (depending on their age and abilities) if released in the wild. All I'm suggesting is that you think about this when your not as P.O.'ed as you are now. Good luck on working this out.

catch the cats, and place an ad in the paper for "free lovable cuddly cats". that way they get a good home, but far away from you.

Try using a mixture of:
1 bottle of hydrogen peroxide 1/4 cup baking soda (arm & hammer)
Mix well and soak affected area. Rinse after 10 minutes.
I use the same potion plus some shampoo to remove skunk odor from my dog when he gets nailed. IT WORKS PERFECTLY.

i'm sure that there is a mixture of some non leathal chemicals that you could spray around the garage that cats hate, in order to keep them away. or, maybe you should bottle up some dog pee and spray it around the out skirts of your property. getting the pee is another challenge though. that's why you spray it outside, so it is aired out enough for us humans, but still too smelly for the sensitive noses of cats. but i think this is too much of a radical solution. i know, call a vet and see if they know what would scare away cats.

How about some nice kitty mittens to keep your hands warm during the winter? They also make good wheel chocks to keep your car from rolling while working on it or to keep you from pulling in to your garage too far. If you're afraid of trip hazards, just hang them from the ceiling so they hit your windshield when you're in far enough.

Speaking of pellet guns, I have a funny cat story. Years ago we had a tom-cat that roamed our yard and he would constantly cry during that time when he was hungry for a female. He drove my wife and I crazy. It was hard to sleep soundly because he would wail outside our window in the driveway. One morning at about 6:00 AM he was right outside our bedroom window howling away. I couldn't take it any longer. This meant WAR! I opened the window to scare him but he just glared at me. I threw some water out the window -- still glaring at me. So I quietly got my pellet gun, pumped it up about 12 times and went outside. He was standing there by the window in the driveway GLARING at me like he was daring me to do something. He would not budge. So I got to within 15 feet of him, laid down on the ground and took aim. At that point he turned around and stuck his rear up in the air at me, sending me a very clear message. With that, I squeezed the trigger. I swear I hit him square in his butt ****. That cat ran through the bushes dragging his butt all the while. In seconds he was gone and I never saw him again. n-e-way, speaking as the mother of 4 cats, you might try one of those enzyme deoderants that you can buy at petsmart or petco (or whatever pet stores they have where you live); a jug of it costs about $10 & it should neutralize the smell

Cat has been found and has been taken to shelter.
Thank you all for all the suggestions of getting the smell of the urine out of the garage. I will have to wait until it warms up some before I can go out there and try to get the smell out.

There is no law in Virginia as to how many animals you can own and the restrictions for my neighborhood are no longer.
