...someone else mentioned it was possible, ...so I had to try. You do need a 'donor' car ('96 Z28 vert from Ertl), but it's pretty easy. I'm not done yet, but thought to post the progress. I still need to use some filler to complete the trunk area, ...and then paint in SOM.
So, ...here's a
Welly Convertible, ...in progress

A few pics of the conversion:

roof removed

fabricated trunk

top cover

taking shapel

In general, you take the top cover and windshield from the donor car, and then fabricate a trunk. Minor modifications are necessary to the windshield. I used a piece of plastic for the trunk, and plan to use some filler, then sanding and paint to complete.

What was the other thread, ..you know you're a Camaro-holic when...
...you buy a brand new 1/18 die cast, take it from the box, ...and then tear it apart for a parts car [Big Grin]

That is the same way I did it. Not hard at all.

If you dremel a small angled slot in the plastic, just under where the tip of the hard boot covers the old bolt hole for the roof pillar, you can than pass the seatbelt through it. Looks very close to stock.

...Another great idea, ...Thanks.
...and now I know who it was that initially mentioned this conversion. [Wink]

Hawkeye, ...like Derek said, ...it's pretty easy to do. [Smile]

Looks like it is coming along great. I thought about using parts from a 1/18 scale 2002 CE Trans AM convertible that I have. The boot would look like it was made for the Camaro.

I'm sure he's already raided the Barbie section at Toys R Us for a set of mini RagSS. [Eek!]

(Why do we encourage him?)

Looks great! [Cool] I'm glad I don't have a vert, it would be just one more thing for the wife to give me crap about. She calls the message boards Camaro Porn...
