My sister-in-law spent many years in Texas at NASA. She was heavily involved with flight crew training. She left after the Challenger disaster.

Thoughts and prayers with the flight crew, their families, and everyone at NASA today.

I just hung our flag at half staff. [Frown]

My dad worked on the Apollo and Viking Missions. I have followed space missions as long as I can remember. Unfortunately I can remember the fire in Apollo 1 and Challenger and now this. They are all true heroes as are all the people that work on these programs. They make out lives what they are! They are brave! My heart goes out to the family. I would still go on a mission myself tomorrow. We know the risks, the rewards are worth that sacrfice. It is hard as is any sacrifice but I am sure they would each want us to go on. I mourn them today and evey day and thank them. I will pray for their souls!

What a horrible disaster. A sad day for our nation. I hope NASA can figure out what happened soon, remedy the situation, and get on with the program again.

On a side note, don't we have 3 Astronauts on the space station right now? They are going to need a ride home someday!

I remember when we lost Challenger and the feeling is very much the same today.

I feel President Bush said it best:

"The crew of the shuttle Columbia did not return safely to Earth but we can pray they are safely home."

God bless.

I'm glad they do. It is a tribute to the hard work and dedication that they, and all the people around them put forth. Every time one of these birds takes to the air the overwhelming feeling of pride, amazement and aw is overpowering. Having made the trip to Florida and watched the Columbia launch multiple times; it deeply saddens me that I can't see it again. It is like nothing else, it makes top fuelers or jet cars at the strip look like childs play (not to belittle it). It even more so saddens me for the brave crew and their families that dedicated their lives in the pursuit of achievement, excellence, knowledge and for creating the things that dreams are made of.

May God Bless the crew, families, friends and everyone that feels a tear of pride swell in their eyes when they think about or watch one of the most amazing achievements of man.
