Mary had to take our cat to the vet Thursday and have him put down. He was a big part of the family for the past 15+ years. Yea, he was old and his mind was failing him. My daughter was hit hardest as it was her cat, and was around ever since she could remember. My son is home as he had some travel time between Tech school and his home base. I'm glad he was here as he went with Mary and gave her a shoulder to cry on. Words seem hard to come by to explain the feelings the family is having.
Take care, thanks for listening, keep it safe...

losing a pet is always tough.

I'm sure he had a great life with you.

I think we all understand that they are part of the family and many of us have been touched by this kind of loss so we fully understand.

Our best to you and your daughter. [Frown]

Sorry for your loss. Many of us here know what a part of the family the pets become.

This is a rough time to have to go through - especially for the kids. I've been there a couple of times having to deal with the loss of our family's cat. My 1st cat had to be put down when she was 18 and our 2nd cat died in his sleep at 19. Currently, we have 2 14-yr. old sisters from the same litter and they are, needless to say, slowing down noticeably. We got these 2 girls when our sons were only 3 and 5 and there's a great bond there. They've all grown up together.
I know how you are feeling and I hope your kids will be OK with this, and be able to cherish the great memories.
I've always found it easier to go out and get a rambunctious little kitten, shortly afterwards. It really helps to fill the void! Take care!

Best regardSS,

Elie

I feel for you. One of the hardest things I've ever done was take our dog of 17 years in to the Vet to be put down. It us much harder than I ever would have thought - but it was the right thing to do. We still like to look through the photo album at pictures of him, and it's been 8 years!

Take care.

My daughter has had two cats for three years. Her only pet so far. Shes 10 and it is hard to think how she would react to something like that. Sorry for your loss. [Frown]

Sorry to hear of your loss. [Frown] It's always tough putting a pet down. They become one of the family and when they leave us, we feel so empty inside. My Wife and I have lost 3 cats over the years. We have one cat and two dogs, a MinPin ( Doby ) and a Jack Russell Terrier ( Jae-R ) right now. It will be tough going when they go. Especially when Doby goes. Doby is my Wifes best buddy ( besides me of course! Hehe [Big Grin] ) in the whole world.

Sorry to hear about that. Its a tough decision to make.
When i was 19 we had to do that to our family cat that was exactly 4 months older than me. Its tough when something has been there that long and now its not..
My thoughts go out to you.. I hate when that happens..

I have a 12 year old cat who is physically older than his chronological years. I know I'll face the same situation one of these days. My heart goes out to you.
