Just thought I would pass along a mod I did today. Take out your filter tray from your air box and you will see a 1-1/2 inch plastic bridge in the middle. This area could be used for more air coming inside the air box. Your air filter does not rest on this bridge (Holley Power Shot) and I went ahead and dremeled it out. The tray is still very sturdy without it.

Anybody else do this?

Another thought.... Those two holes on each side of the front grill in the bumper. There's black stirofoam in there and why couldn't you cut that out and make a duct to flow direclty to your CAI duct or to the airbox??

Comments welcomed! [Smile]

I was thinking of removing the bridge from the filter tray also. [Roll Eyes]

I'm glad you said something about it.

You gave me something to do this weekend thanks pal! [Big Grin]

People have been doing those two mods for years. You can actually cut out more than just the bridge to open it up even further. There is a how-to article somewhere that describes how to do the ram air from the grill with removal of the styrofoam. Check LS1.com or installuniversity.com.

I'm guessing you mean after having already performed the FRA (Free Ram Air) mod? If so, I doubt it would make much difference. If you haven't heard of the FRA mod, it would provide a lot more benefit than just removing the bridge across the tray.

Here's what I did to mine (part of the process for installing cold air induction)...you'll notice I left my bridge in:
