Anyone else having this problem? My 35th LE is my daily driver, now 13,000 miles. I'm getting chips in the right side hood stripe, like the decal is being chipped by stones, salt, etc. Paint below seems OK, but sure shows thru the chips! What seems weird is only the one stripe is chipping. Left side and nose stripes are OK. Any ideas on how to touch this up? Re-striping is a major hassle; been there and done that with a 30th, and don't want to go there again.

That sure sounds odd that only one stipe would chip. Am I understanding that it is the stripe that is actually ON the hood, not the leading nose area of the car? If so, is there any chance the stripe has bubbles under it or something is doing this when you are parked? It makes no sense that only one section of the stripe would be affected. Strange!
I had to have both 'nose area' stripes replaced following a minor traffic mishap with 200 miles on my SS LE. I can tell you that the color of the replacement ones appears to be the same as the ones on the hood but the amount of reflectance is different - so they don't match exactly. If you have to have any part of the front stripes replaced, I would suggest you have ALL of them replaced on that end of the car.
Just my .02 cents worth.

Daily driver here also (summer) no problems with mine. Sounds like a warranty issue if it's only one of the stripes. Did you drive the SS during the winter?

I can only think of two ways;
1. Get silver touch up paint, a sharp xacto knife (and a steady hand). Clean up any loose decal material around the chip with the xacto knife, and using a fine artists paintbrush or the tip of a tooth pick dab a bit of silver.
2. And much more time consuming. Buy a spare decal for repairs. Cut out a small piece like 1"x1", place it over the chip and cut through in a small diamond shape around the chip. Remove the piece, remove the damaged decal with the xacto, remove the backing from the diamond and insert with a pair of tweezers.
This is the same method used to repair sheet floors but on a much smaller scale!

The only way the dealer will warranty the stripe is if it was peeling on the edges,bubbles or dirt under the paint. I have gotten a few rock chips too(since mine is no trailer queen)and I use silver metalic touch up paint. Thanks for the suggestions. Yup, daily driver, even in the winter. This year I appreciated the LS-1 powered heater (a little discussed attribute of the Camaro). I have a good dealer; I'll let them take a look, and provide touch-up paint if that's the way I decide to go.

Oh, and yes, the hood stripe, not the nose. All damage in one area, about even with the leading edge of the flat black hood scoop decal, if you follow.... First noticed after a road trip from Michigan to Nashville, and I assumed some construction debris got me. More spots evident now, as spring is coming on... maybe road salt. I will look real close for evidence of bubbles or anything under the stripe. Thanks again.

ever thought of putting Zaino or some other polish on top of the stripes to protect them?
Just a thought. I'd also buy a spare set now while they're available and put them away till needed.

Yup, many coats of Zaino right over the stripes (I called Sal when I got the car, and that's what he said to do). Hmmm... good idea about buying a set for the future.
