I'm looking for a new floor jack. Thought I'd ask around here for some recommendations.
Here's a rough idea of what I'd like...
1) A relatively light jack...doesn't have to be a billet aluminum racing jack, but one of those 6 ton SUV jacks won't do...I need something that I can pick up and move around the car on track days.
2) I'd really like a jack with a handle for easy pick-up and moving around.
3) At least 15" lift and single-pump-to-chassis feature.
4) Less than $100. Ideally, I'd like to find a nice mid-level jack for about $100, but I don't think such a jack exists...it seems to be either $45.00 or $450.00 with nothing in between.

You won't find what your looking for at 100 bones. I have a couple of floor jacks and can tell you what I got. I have a Sears 3 ton floor jack... old style. It isn't too bad, It is HEAVY though. I paid 100 bucks on sale a few years back. I Got a gift cert for Snap-on and looked what the tool guy had. Nothing was "cheap". I bought a blue-point (their cheap line) for like 150ish. Its nicer then my older craftsman and lighter. My dad recently bought a newer style 3ton jack from sears and it looks very similar to my "blue-point" jack. Most all of them in the low end price range are made in China. The snap-on one is made by lincolin.... they are well know in the jack biz. Anyway hope that confuses you some..... Hmmmm...after doing some more research, I managed to uncover this...it's $179.00 and shipping is on the house since it's over $50.00. This might just be the "in-between" I'm looking for.

Do not like the sears floor jack. Bought one couple years back, Weak steel, piston is not rebuildable and costs almost the cost of the jack itself. Started to leak about one year after I bought it. Look for a OTC or Lincolin. Or try to find a old ( 20-30 years) jack to rebuild.I rebuilt my fathers old Hien-Werner, best move I made. They really don't build good jacks anymore.

I bought that jack. A pretty nice unit for the price. Light, manuverable. The pad is nice and low, but the body is pretty tall. With my SLP Bilstien equipped SS it will not fit all the way under the car to lift it by the enginge cross member or axle pumpkin, you can lift a corner at a time though. For a 3 ton jack I'd say can't beat the price.

Another vote for the Sears Craftsman 3 ton jack. They go on sale all of the time and for less than $100 you get two 3 ton jack stands with it. I have 2 of these jacks. Best value out there and they will lift 19" I believe. Posted by edg35SSLE (Member # 1381) on :
Agree with Greg.....Keep your eyes on the Craftsman site. They have great deals. Just bought mine from there.
