Just got around to installing my Carbra.com bra on my 01 SS and it's a serious hassle. A VERY tight fit indeed. The metal bend bars with fabric coated on do not fit right in the vent areas of my SS grill. I feel like I'm scratching my clear coat as I try to put the bra on....... I feel like sending it back. I ended up stipping out the plastic anchor in the wheel well where you srew in the snap screw. Man, this is irritating.......
Anybody else have these problems?
I might buy the Colgan bra instaes now........
I went to SLP day in O-town...... a good time there.
--------------
Chevrolet refuses to accept a paint defect in SS roof panels.
I met another SS owner from Melbourne, FL with user name Bowtie Boy and he's having the same problem I had with bubbling under the paint on his roof.
There is no official recall because it's not a "safety" issue but dealers will play dumb. There is a serious problem with 4th Generation F-Bodies with bubbling under the paint on the roof panels!!! However Chevy dealers don't want to accept this!!!

I have no issues with my Colgan Custom car bra. Easy to install and does not damage my paint.
Sorry about the big picture.

I have the Carbra cover. I use it for highway trips with no problems to date (used it on the trip to Bowling Green last year). Mine installed easily. The only thing I've done differently is I use a couple of folded cotton terrycloth hand towels under the hood piece (per HTWLSS's suggestion) to prevent any scuffing on the raised hood scoop part of the hood.

I was turned on to colgan by a friend at chevy, and completely happy with it. took a few minutes to fit it. I had to bend 4 tabs a little to make sure they held well. They are located down the street from me. If you want I will ship it to you, but first see what kind of deal you can get. Mine was $94 (?) after discount. I have the part # for an 02, 1159. If you want the one with a grille screen all the way across and no plate cut out in the front add a -1 to it. I dont know how much shipping will cost.

Hi, Brian!
I'd like to try on your bra this year. (at least test it out). What is the brand name of the body guard material & where did you buy it?
Thanks. John

John, w/in the past few months, some info was posted on where to get collision wrap and the 3M stuff. A search should bring them up.
I know there were more threads on this, but can't think of more keywords right now.

I bought it at Cross Canada Auto Body Suppy, it was $12.50 for a roll 6" x 12'. Trim Bite was the brand I believe that they bought out Pro Stripe. You are most welcome to try my bra - anytime Posted by Hawkeye (Member # 88) on :

Thanks for helping me out.
John S., your bra is like mine yes? It's a carbra.com bra? Thay also make the official GM Camaro bra. I think Terri has the same bra we have. If Terri is reading this, I would like her take on instaling this bra.
John,
The screw rivits inside the wheel wells, how are they holding up for you? I've notice the snap replacement screws carbra says to screw in are a tight fit. I ended up breaking the plastic anchor the snap screws screw into! The vents on either side of the SS grill, How are you bending your tabs in there? Mine seem very tight, especially the upper vent tab and I'm afraid I will scratch the clear coat. The side tabs in the vent area seem to almost fit in between the plastic there but it's very tight.
I may just order the Colgan then send one back minus shipping and that damn res-stoking fee they charge!
Who has a carbra and who has a Colgan?

We have the bra offered by GM in the Camaro Accessories Brochure.
It attaches on the outside by bending some tabs around the fender. No snaps or screws (we wouldn't put holes in our SS).
A couple of hooks under the hood aren't attached, due to the difference between a stock hood and the SS hood, but it still holds fine.
A folded diaper between the bra and hood spaces it off the paint to avoid any flapping, of you can apply some protective film as we did.
We don't have a front grille, so the tabs fold just fine in the faux vents in the fascia.
Of course, this is what happens when driving through Idaho, in late September, without a bra: Posted by JohnS (Member # 1073) on :

The screw rivits inside the wheel wells, how are they holding up for you? They seem to be okay. I don't leave the bra on, except for driving on the highway once or twice a month over the summer
The vents on either side of the SS grill, How are you bending your tabs in there? I don't have the SS grill. The tabs are bent & fit okay on my stock Camaro grill

Thanks Terri and John....
Well Ken over at Carbras.com told me his bra is the official GM bra but mine has one screw snap in each wheel.......oh well.
Terri, your bra looks just like mine but yours has that camaro emblem where mine does not.
Still undecided, may order the Colgan and compare.
Thanks for the pics to confirm.
