I need some recommendations for new front pads for the SS. I'm strickly talking street pads...I've got a set of HP+ pads for the track.

I've never really been that disappointed with the stock pads, but I figure now that I have to replace them I might as well at least look into upgrading.

The only real criteria I have is that I don't want anything that's going to dust a whole lot more than the stock pads.

Anybody have any suggestions?

I have some Hawk pads I'm going to put on. They are supposed to be ALOT better than original.

I've been using Hawks, a good improvment from stock, but VERY dusty.
(I'm sure my slotted rotors don't help the dust factor)

Given your criteria for street use only and no dusting, I would say you should stay with the stock pads.

I too have used HP+ pads for both street and track (lapping). I really like them, but they dust a lot.

GM Durastops pads (used to be called Reds...because that was the color they were painted) are between the stock pads and the Hawk pads. However, like the Hawk pads they dust A LOT.

Sitck with stock for the street. They are quieter, dust less and work good when cold. I do like you do and change to Carbotech Panther pads for the track, but change them back when I get home.

This is from my 'for what it's worth' department - I had the front pads replaced on our 2000 Express conversion van about two months ago at Pep Boys. I went with their 'best' pads which is the Quiet Stop from Raybestos (I think that is the correct brand). Anyway, they seem to do a really good job in stopping straight and quietly but they make almost no dust at all. I cleaned the front wheels (Regency/Enkei) inside and out about a month ago and have been watching for dust buildup - there isn't any.

Just a thought. Remember - your milage may vary.

I may only be imagining it, but I think my Hawk HPS pads on Eradispeeds dust less than stock pads on stock rotors.

I have the Napa carbon ceramics that are quiet and low dusting.

I know a number of folks that really like the EBC Green pads. You can find them on Tirerack.com as well as many other places. Very low dusting and good street performance. I'll probably try them next time I need to change.

What's up Seth...it's been a while, thanks for the link.

The car's good but it's on jack stands right now while I get the car ready for Watkins Glen in May. Thank God I have a garage attached to the apartment...I don't know what I'd do without it.

You gonna be doing any track days with us this season?
