Went to the local Unemjoyment office today to file. Now all the red tape they make you go thru for a check that I have never collected in my whole life.Seems that there should not be a problem getting something that all of my past employers have paid into, but I have a feeling that the State will somehow deny me.

Don't worry Greg. For the reason they let you go you should not have a problem. Been there, done that.

I seem to remember somebody said that you could do your visits over the phone every 2 weeks [Confused] . Could be wrong but might be something to look into [Smile]

The thing that made no sense to me was the application form from the State has a spot where you check off your race. Why would that matter if you were out of work or not?

They use that to compile their "statistics".

Greg trust me when I say that you will get it. Unfortunately its done so differently now than when I went through it back in the early 90's. A co-worker got laid-off from our place a month ago and when I talked to him last Monday at work he told me that its so different now that it takes a liitle longer because of the red tape now. Hang in there buddy you will get it as its suppose to take three weeks before the first check arrives.

I am praying for you that all turns out well and will be called back. Take care.

I don't know about unemployment where you live, but here in VA we only have to apply for 3 jobs a week and show proof that you have applied by having someone at the company you are applying for sign the unemployment document. If you are able to sit out of work for six months or so and collect unemployment, do it. Just go through the phone book and call businesses and ask if they are hiring, if they are not, go fill out an application or take your resume'.

Greg....Don't worry about it, they make everyone feel the way your feeling. Your just another statistic to them. I don't know your situation but I've been there doing the unemployment shuffle before.

Thanks guys.I guess I will have to go to another job place on Monday to get a piece of paper stamped to validate my application that proves I was looking for a job.I think this is just a big run around. They probably want me to take a $8 per hour job instead of collection unemployment.

I don't think they can make you take a job that pays less than you made before. Thats the way it is around here. Its just a bunch of red tape your experiencing now. You will get used to it and it will get easier (unemployment comp part anyway).

I know when my mom had to go get it it was a pain in the butt, after she got all the paper work done and countless visits to the office she finally gotit right. She was laid off just like you, don't worry you'll get it.
