Greg, I just picked up my gentex mirror like you have. I got a couple of questios since you have done the install. The big brown harness conector... did you just tuck it up in the headliner (did it fit)? Also can you explain what pins I need to switch off the origional mirror into the new mirror harness? Since you use the factory dome light etc. do you just not connect the brown harness wire (one that comes with the mirror). Where did you put your ground and finally how again did you hook the power up without splicing anything in (and what sources ie switch and constant power). You went off the inst panel fuse box but I'm a little unclear. Did you tap into the back or front? Also did you use the supplied fuse with the harness or the one in the fuse box on the dash. My new mirror used the existing mirror connector from the original mirror. I just has to move a couple of wire terminals around in the commector for the dome lights. I added the 12v power source(key on 12v) to the originall connector as well as the 2 temperature sensor probe wires.All fit back under the headliner.You may need to unseat a couple of the plastic harness push pin retainers to get more needed wire lenght the to new mirror.My new mirror kit was not for a Camaro and the instructions were for a Toyota Camry. I tapped the power into the fuse box using a terminal that goes behind the fuse so I did not have to cut any wires.
Gerg, I already looked at your pictures before I posted.... I boguth the generic mirror and it came with a basic harness. It sounds like you didn't use any harness but rather made your own? For the power since you went off a fuse you don't need to put another fuse correct? I wish I had a digi camera so I could post what I have. Do you still have the pin outs so I know which terminals I need to switch to make it work? From the way you make it sound I won't be using the Mito harness but rather make my own. Also I think it makes more sense now... on you mirror you didn't run a ground, you used the factory ground wire that runs to the mirror? Also for the temp probe you ran it up the passenger "A" pillar? In my instructions it says not to modify the length of wire, in fact mine has a mini plug (non weather pac) type. Did you cut it off or just add a length of wire to it and then plug into the back of the mirror? Thanks!

Really..... You think yours is clear? Now I thought I read that a clear LED isn't made so to make the illusion of clear you combine amber and green. On my car the light looks really green.... which was why I was currious. If you get a chance and could look for me I would appreciate it. If yours is clear I may call MITO and see if I can swap or something....
One other question (or two)....
Just currious what type of micro conectors did you use (or where you got them) to connect the wires into the back of the mirror into the harness conector?
And... Have you noticed on your mirror that it doesn't "snap" onto the button on the window? Mine seems loose and won't lock in place?

My LED's are amber and green. Look wierd when you look at them, but they do combine to produce a good illumination "in" the car.

If you want a "tip" on the install.... I did you one better. For the power I found a plug at a NAPA store that goes directly into one of the "accessory" ports in the fuse block. It has a srange conector but works so you don't tap off any fuse. I then bought a mini fuse holder and put a fuse in the power lead wire going up to the mirror... a true plug and play. Steve installed a temp/compass mirror in our SS back in '99. It would have been a nice standard item in our cars. If you have any questions, you can always throw them his way.
