D.Goetz SFC's: Nice quality pieces (vert bolt-on's) and install was easy. After test drive, ...it is a must that you add SFC's (of any sort) to your convertible. These things tighten the car right up, ... the suspension now takes over where body flex used to take place. A big plus , ...Thanks Don!
NOW, ...to my front springs. Some may recall that I have been wanting to lower the front of my Bilstien equipped vert (and maintain the Bilstein ride quality) since day one. I decided to purchase parts to build complete spring shock 'assembly'(all original Bilstein/SLP Eng. parts), ...cut 3/4 of a loop off the spring and assemble. Well, I installed them and see little if any change. I suspect once the springs 'settle in' I will have what I want, ...I guess we'll have to wait and see.

BTW, my springs did settle after a couple of month too.

I have been seriously considering lowering my vert. A lot of people say the rear settles more than the front with the spring kits.
Kevin, Is this why you are cutting your front springs? What would you guys suggest I do with mine in terms of lowering? I do not race the car, just drive it and enjoy it. And I prefer that my teeth not rattle out of my head. Posted by RagSS (Member # 1127) on :
Wayne, I ordered my car with the Bilstein suspension and as with most/many Bilstein equipped cars, the front sits a tad too high. In order to maintain the quality ride of the Bilstein package I decided to cut a set of front springs with the hope of getting an additional 1" drop. The rear sits perfect, and I did not want to (nor did I) change anything back there. (Just to comment here most convertibles seem to sit lower than a coupe with the Bilstein especially in the rear). This was one of the reasons I decided against changing all the springs to some other brand.(I even bought a set of Eibach Prokit springs that I never used.) I am not one to race my car either, I simply wanted to lower it for appearance, ...and did not want it 'slammed' or create a 'jarring' ride. As for springs 'settling', I've read many posts of people complaining that their springs (especially in the rear)have done this. I would have to believe ALL springs do this to some extent. What should you do? ...obviously that's entirely up to you. I don't know what suspension you have now (I assume stock SS), and not sure how many miles on your car. But when you do lower your car, ...consider (at a minumum) changing your shocks (to something like the SLP revalved Bilseins) and add relocation brackets (BMR bolt-ons a good choice). Personally I think the SLP/Bilstein system is a great option. You could go that route and have a complete 'system' (springs, shocks, and stabilizer bars). At a later point cut your front springs if/when you decide that's what you want. An obvious (less cost) option is to purchase 'aftermarket' springs (such as Hotchkiss 1" drop; Eibach Prokit; etc.) and install just those. If your car doesn't have many miles (on the shocks) this may be more attractive to you.
Trust me, ...the more people you ask, ...the more opinions you'll get. Hope this helps...
