Looks like fun.
I'll be doing that sometime in the future. Posted by Hawkeye (Member # 88) on :
Wow, nice shots. That seems like a lot of work.
Where did you do the work? You sure had lots of room to work on it! Were the top of the pistons as dirty as they look in the photos? And, how does it run now?

Here is a detailed list of what I installed..
-6.0L Stage 2 heads ported by Riggs racing and milled .038" to bump compression up to 10.5:1 -Thunder Racing 224/224 .568/.568 112lsa cam with 4 degrees ground in. -chro-moly heat treated pushrods (7.35" long) due to milled heads -Comp Cams 918 springs -Rollmaster timing gear set with Jwis Ketten chain -ARE LS6 ported and balanced oil pump -LS6 Intake without EGR -Jet Hot LT headers coated with Hooker 3" y-pipe
Now I did all this at once and it took me and a couple helpers about 26hrs to do it. I did it at my work where we have a big Oil Sand storage warehouse..
Here were my initial problems and how they were fixed.. -my idle was very erratic.. I drilled out throttle body hole until my IAC counts were around 30.. -my Loudmouth was way way too loud with LT's and no cats.. I replaced the Loudmouth with Magnaflow and it is quieter at idle but the lope is still there.. -my injectors are running at over 100% duty cycle at WOT.. I have SVO 30lb injectors (36.53lbs at LS1 pressure) that I have to put in but I am waiting for tuning.. -I opted for the Diablo Predator tuning tool with a custom program.. That should get rid of all my codes and to tune for bigger injectors, up my rev limiter, and the fact I am pig rich at WOT..
I love the way that my car sounds now and lopes.. It lopes hard and car has a 60's muscle car sound now.. It is very streetable/driveable and it doesn't surge at all..I do however have to let my car warm up for a few minutes before driving to get some heat into the springs. The only problem is that my back tires seem to spin alot more.. Valvetrain noise also is very noticeable. It almost sounds like a sewing machine when the hood is up and the car is running... My fuel economy did not change at all on the highway but around the city due to my agressive driving did.. Oh well..
As far as the top of my pistons being brown/black is due to the good ole LS1 oil consumption problem..
2 weeks after all of this my stock clutch didn't seem to like the added extra power and started to slip real bad.. and the slave cylinder isn't the best as well. I opted for the Spec Stage 3 Carbon clutch with upgraded hydraulics.. I also did this myself without a lift.. It took about a total of 10 to do with a few cut and scrapes.. Upon break-in there was chatter but the chatter went away as the miles went on. Now it will only chatter on some occasions when you let the clutch out to slow and give it gas. It just made me relearn how to drive again..
I have not made it out to the track yet because I am still waiting on my tuning.. It will be interested to see what times I pull with street tires..

Very nice...looks like Jaxon was having fun under the hood. Looks like a lot of work...especially with the engine still mounted.
