As of last night.My son finally got that engine and trans installed in his 1979 Camaro Berlinetta.We used towels to help protect the ceramic coated Hooker Super Comp ceramic coated headers.This engine has a 9 quart Moroso oil pan that made the install a little tricky. I was amazed that the tall Chevy Power valve covers actually clear the a/c case and power brake booster and can be removed with ease. This car has not seen an engine in it for over 3 years now. I can't wait to see how far the front end drops when the rest of the car is assembled.

It's amazing that that engine and tranny droped in so easily . With the extra weight it probably took everyone to push the car back into the garage . Keep us posted with more pics as it goes together .

I wild guess at the flywheel would be 525hp and 490 torque.This engine was very underated by GM and was rated at 460 hp. This car should be in the 12's very easy with no NOS. Posted by DaddySS (Member # 848) on :

The a/c case,brake booster and using tall Chevy Power valve covers...I thought there may be a clearance issue. The headers barely clear the a/c case and the 9 quart oil pan hands down very low when the engine was being lowered,it looked like it would not clear the engine crossmember but barely did.
