I will start off by saying I got a 2nd place .Seems that another Brickyard 400 owner who never drives his 1600 mile trailer queen decided to say he drove his car to the show.He should have been in a trailered class. He got a 1st place in class. It does not really matter to me since I am proud of my rock chips and my 10500 miles! [Smile]

What did you win?

I won 4th place in the 98-02 Street Class. A big class with 18 cars. I felt pretty good after driving it 540 miles to get there. Congrads to all SSOA members who won an award.

I won First Place in the 98-02 Modified Camaro class. Not bad for a 20K mile car driven 275 miles to the show, cleaned, trashed by the rain, cleaned again, trashed by rain again, cleaned yet again and then absolutely completely and utterly trashed on the way home. [Razz]

Got her washed up yesterday. The heat & humidity was killer. I think I dripped as much sweat onto the car as the amount of water I was trying to get off of it. Eventually got it clean and back in the garage though but I think it may have taken at least six months off my life expectancy...

My 2002 Berger SS won 1st place for 1982-2002 Special Production (actually tied with a 2000 Tom Henry SS) [Big Grin]

Still completely filthy from the drive home . . . [Frown] I don't think I have EVER seen Blue soooo dirty.

I don't think I won, I left early.

I do have a suggestion for an award, highest miles on a DRIVEN car at the show. My friend's red z28 that was next to my SS has 102k miles.

2nd in Street vert for the LE, 5th (i think) in stock vert for the 30th. The weather was a joke. Rain...then gusting winds with dirt...then scorching sunshine to bake in all in!! [Mad]

People were great, however. And thats what these events are all about. [Smile]

3rd place in 98 to 02 street class. I got misclassified and should have been in street convertible class. It doesn't really matter to me since I did get an award and best of all my wife and I had a great time. [Smile]

I got 3rd in 98-02 Street ( there was a tie ) I was very surprized by this my 99 Z28 has 66749 miles on it and isnt in a garage as the 72 and my wifes car are in there . My 99 is also driven in the winter as is the SS . If you think I am foolig with you check out the Camaro World Mag and you will see it in Oldtown Fla for the Winter Nationals and it was driven home in a snow storm. Man my car was trashed also on the way home Monday the roads were a mess. Greg one of the things that bothers me most is the Trailer situation at shows , most guys wont own up to saying they trailered there cars when they have there own Trailered class and theres NO CARS IN THE CLASS. Sorry about the RANT . Congrats to all the winners the comp was tuff

Chuck, congrats again on your award! Many times we have announced that no cars were in a certain trailered class. Some people just go to the show for the win and not for the people they meet and may have placed higher if they were honest about trailering their car.Funny that Willard and I were talking about this same subject early Sunday morning at the show site. [Smile]

...definitely agree with you on that Chuck. I realize the issue here is honesty, ...and those that trailer their cars need to 'fess up'...
But, there could be a system where the judges are to add points to a car (based on miles over some predetermined amount). I know this isn't 'fool-proof', ...but it could be a means to give points to those who do drive their cars, ...and (bust their butt's to) still keep them pristine. It may help 'level the playing field' ...The guy (or gal) with 60000 miles on their Camaro could have a chance against a 1500 mile "driven" (trailer queen) car.

Anyway, ...congrats to all [Big Grin]

Kevin funny thing but I have been talking to some people about the very same system . Let me tell you that the Judges at Superfest asked for a roundoff mileage when you drove the car into the juding tent. Those of us who drive our cars work so much harder to compete with trailered cars or cars driven just for fun with a daily driver that get driven in the winter. I dont have a problem with anyone who does this heck I wish I could but , I just want a even playing field . I must say that I am really down on the car show thing because of this reason and really have thought about giving up showing cars in compitition , I may just go and enjoy the people and fun . I thought thats what it was all about . Not a trophy, but if you were lucky enough to win that was a plus . SORRY for the RANT and a long one too . I am off the soap box

ChukSSter you pretty much just described exactly why I hardly ever enter my car in shows anymore. I go to them to see the cars and my friends bu seldom enter into the judging. They always want to know why not because the one's I was in, I won a few awards. My car has 36K on it but it is not a daily driver anymore. So, it is very clean all the time but I hate the attitude of some car show people. Not all, but some. There are some real cliques as well. The most fun I have with my car is when a few of us get together, go for an ad hoc cruise and we always seem to pick up stragglers along the way. We even called ourselves the informal car club!

I met Don and Joan Smith from PA again at Superfest. We first met at the OCC Nationals in 2002. They have the 67 Gold Metallic RS/SS beauty.
Don has put about 200 miles on the car in 10 years. He said that he felt that it would be cheating if he didn't present his car as being trailered.

Mt wife and I go to the shows to meet new people and fellow enthusiasts. We work hard to present our Camaro as best as possible and if we do win an award, it's a bonus for us.

Chuck...Dan, ...I'm right there with you guys on that one. Other than my '67 and '68 being on the tours, ...I really am not into showing. The best part of these cars is the people who drive them. I think it is awsome that we have met so many friends from so many places through the common interest of our cars, ...this is totally [Cool]

Kevin

I agree with you guys. If a car is trailered to the show,it should be in a trailered class. Some of us use them for daily transportation and some a fun cars. I don't use mine as a daily driver, but I drive it a lot. Like Kevin says, its about meeting the people and having fun. If you win, thats a plus. Thats what I like about Bowling Green, its about having fun. Well I guess I said my piece also.

greg... trailer queens belong on the trailer or should compete with other trailered cars!!! I know who you're talking about and he claims it's a 345 horse power brickyard camaro>>>you should be very happy with your daily driver [Cool]

Mine is not a daily driver, but I more than make up for the miles it sits when I attend several out of town trips each year to different Camaro shows. [Cool]

I personally think it is the best looking Berger SS that was built in the 3 years of building them. [Cool]

I agree. Andy's is definately the best looking Berger SS made, hands down!... but the one behind it... now THAT's A COOL CAMARO! [Razz]

I never thought red seats would go well with a blue car with white racing stripes. It is appearant I stand corrected! [Big Grin] I dread not knowing about the 4th gen Berger series early enough, perhaps before I bought my 97 SS, as I might have tried my darnest to obtain one of those fabulous cars. . . I had a video of it somewhere at last years F-body gathering going down the track but I can't seem to find it.
