A friend at work drives a geo tracker and ont he way to work, started steaming from under the hood. Just need you guys to troubleshoot what this is. I believe he said when he parked there was a liquid dripping. Could it be the radiator leaking? Anything else? I dont think he has air conditioning. Thanks in advance for your quick expertise!!!

What color is the liquid? clear? Green? if it is green it is probably anti freeze, and the radiator is probably leaking, or a hose may have come loose. is his temp needle reading hot?

Probably a hose has gone bad... or a loose hose clamp.... or a bad water pump... all things to check that are common things that leak. Its had to diagnois over the net..... [Wink]

I belevie over 80k, its a 1992 adn no AC...didn't say anything about the light. He said the spill over was completely gone though. I looked at it and looked to be radiator fluid. Was in a suit at work so would get 'down and dirty' [Big Grin]

Maybe it just boiled over.... could have been that someone just overfilled the coolant recovery bottle and as it expanded puked some coolant...

Da verdict: 4 hoses and clamps need to be replaced. That's about it. For being a 1992 w/ 89k miles on it, its the first maintenence/repair needed to be done on it (besides oil change, etc). Not bad eh?

On a side note, Mark told me his friend bought the very first Tracker made, VIN #1. Said something about it was hanging off the edge of the building and they let him buy it. Mark had the privelege of driving the first 4 miles on it [Big Grin] Pretty cool [Cool]
