The SSOA die cast cars have been shipped to us by the manufacturer.
By now, you've seen the announcements and eBay auctions from a few of Welly's distributors for this item. The cars you see being sold early are not being distributed by the SSOA.
To give you some background, there was a very limited total run of 2000 pieces. The SSOA could only afford to buy a portion of the run due to the expense of set up fees, shipping, etc. Our goal is to break even on them, so we'll be passing them along at a lesser price than the for-profit distributors.
The 504 cars that the SSOA will be distributing will be available at the Bowling Green event and will have special numbered decaling on them to identify them as an official SSOA distributed item.
Since the cost of die-casts for our members will be less than what the other dealers are selling them, if you can wait until September in Bowling Green, KY for an official SSOA distributed die-cast, It'll be worth your wait.
For those of you not going to the event, you will need to make arrangements with one of your local club members attending the event to bring one back home with them for you. Case sales (6 to a case) are encouraged so we can get them out there to you all and distributed through local clubs.
Please let me know if you have questions.

Should we reserve with you now or just wait for BG?

And if we are not a member of a local club....can we pay for shipping and have one sent to us ? I will not be able to make BG this year, but would like very much to have one of the "limited" SSOA diecasts.
Thanks, BadRag

Terri, I will take 2 and my dad wants 1. We can wait till after BG. Posted by RagSS (Member # 1127) on :
Teri, First, ...THANKS for your efforts in making this happen, ...very . I am definitely interested (as I'm sure most will be),...and don't mind waiting until BG or after. I'm sure you've already considered this, but it might be worth starting a 'pre-order' list, where you have the 'local club person' listed for each person ordering. This way you may be able to group the orders under the local person distributing them (hopefully minimizes your work), and Like Rich mentioned it would be a way to confirm we are on the list to reserve one. I'm sure the Hudson Valley crew (including the north Jersey folks ) will order 6-12.
Whatever you decide will be fine... Thanks again... Kevin

I am definately interested in 1, but will be unable to get to BG. I had some plans to have one brought back to the Detroit area, but I forgot by who! If that was you, please let me know if you will be able to do so. Thanks to everybody involved.

People have made arrangements in an earlier thread to have a car brought back for them.
I will go through the threads and make a note as to who has dibs on one. It's up to you to figure out who will pick it up for you if you cannot get it in person. I want to see all of these cars distributed at Bowling Green so I don't have to haul them back to Oregon with me. I don't want to hassle with driving the cost of the car up with the purchase of shipping cartons, padding and dealing with shipping damage. My plate is full with member packets and other commitments. If there's someone from your local club going to the Bowling Green event, I suggest you work it out with them to bring one back for you, or try your darndest to be there.

It looks like they'll be no more than $25 U.S. each. DO NOT send any money to me. Cash in person in Bowling Green is the way to go.

From the first post in this thread.......
quote:Originally posted by HTWLSS: For those of you not going to the event, you will need to make arrangements with one of your local club members attending the event to bring one back home with them for you. Case sales (6 to a case) are encouraged so we can get them out there to you all and distributed through local clubs.
To purchase shipping cartons, padding/bubble wrap, account for damage, etc., the price of these things will keep going up. To keep the price below the cost that the distributors are charging, we want people to either come to Bowling Green or arrange to get one from someone else who is going (note, WE paid the set up fees and all other associated costs to produce them, so we're just trying to break even and be able to buy our NCM brick).
I have enough on my plate right now and don't want to hassle with individual shipments. Once we distribute all we can in B.G., if any are left, case sales/group purchases may be possible, but we'll visit that topic after the event.

OK OK I went back to the beginning and read your thread... "The SSOA die cast cars have been shipped to us by the manufacturer.
By now, you've seen the announcements and eBay auctions from a few of Welly's distributors for this item. The cars you see being sold early are not being distributed by the SSOA."
Our name is written right on the door. They can't even get "Super Sport Owners Association" right...... *sigh* and the total run is 2000 (not 1998).
I guess when the distributors run out, we'll at least have our stock with our specially numbered decals on them.

Pay for the item when you pick it up from me in B.G. If someone else is picking the car up on your behalf, you'll have to work it out w/them since they will have to pay for what they pick up.
