Took SS back to dealer as I wrote in previous post they insatlled synthetic lube in my Auburn rear axle, as per SLP supplemental guide they were to install only Dino lube! After talking to dealer who asked who is SLP (I should of known then they were boneheads), but no they finally relented and installed proper gear oil. Next I asked them while it was there to check out my 12 disc cd changer that was skipping on some CDS, The brain child service writer asked another writer next to him if a 12 disc cd changer came in Camaro he said "No must be after market", again what kind of peopel are these that have no clue about there product! They looked up my VIN and found it was a factory option. Next I asked them to check slight ticking in motor. Got called after about 5 hours rear end fluid was changed properly he said, and 12 disc cd changer needed to be sent out for repair, the motor ticking is #1 cylinder and the motor needs to be removed and heads taken off and checked possibly needs a new engine he told me. Feeling like they know better maybe they then told me "We do not have enough warranty money to pay for this and for me to take it back to dealer I bought it from. I called GM 800 number they got involved and told me that the service manager did not want to do the repair as there warranty money was low! Ok I told the GM guy from the 800 number when I bought this car I was told it had a FULL GM warranty guess the will be there campaign came and is now sorry were gone now! I told him no wonder Toyota and other makes are beating gm in sales it is because of BS like this. This dealership is located at 4000 S. Harlem Av. in Lyons, Illinois! Then I took car back to Rizza Chevrolet dealer I purchased car from in Bridgeview, Illinois I told them what had happened they had 6 techs listen to my car and started another LS1 Z28 up and it sounded the same, they told me the noise is the hi performance fuel injectors pumping and the motor was ok because if it was bad they would happily replace it as the shop was slow, and they looked at my 12 disc changer and looked at the cdr's that were burned and told me this was why they tried a couple regular store cds and all was well! The moral I learned if the boneheads at Phelan Chevrolet would or took my motor out for no reason the car would never be right and I will take car back to this dealer from now on! The dealer Phelan has a fancy shop and showroom but the older dealers have the knowledge!

...moral of story, ...If they don't know who SLP is, ...go to another dealer. If I had brought my car to a dealer and they didn't know who SLP was, ...I'd be leary of them. If I asked them to check my CD changer and they conclude that it was not a factory option, ...I'd be ready to leave. All of this after they put the wrong lube in the axle? ...I definitely would not be asking them to look at my motor, ...and would have left. Condsider yourself lucky. You ended up with good service, ...especially from the dealer you purchased your car from. Take your business there, ...and let them know you appreciate the quality service you get from them. You did mention they were an 'older' dealership?, ...now you know why they are still in business. The reality is that the impressions we get about GM are through the windows of the dealerships we visit. Some good some bad...
