First time poster here. I just bought a '96 SS convertible in June (been looking for a '96 or '97 for several years), so happy to finally be an owner of one of these great automobiles.
The car is completely stock (even the Skip Shift was still working) and in excellent condition (53K miles), so it was just a wonderful find for me - like buying a new vehicle so I can decide what mods to make(if any).
Don't know what all is in the members area of the website (I have sent my application in but realize it takes a while to be processed), but I'm looking to complete RPO/build information since the original owner did not keep sales paperwork - I do have Chevy and SLP owners manuals fortunately.
I took all the RPO's off the driver's door sticker and made a list. I've searched all over the web to fill in most of them, but there are a few I don't know what they are. If there are any '96 SS owners out there could go to my web site and check through the RPO's I would greatly appreciate it (I've also got a couple of pictures and the SLP info from the door and engine-compartment stickers) .
QUESTION: The one question I have for '96 SS owners is about the "Cone of Silence" performance exhaust change that SLP made to late '96 and early '97 SS. Mine is late '96 (SS#2268 out of 2410) and I was wondering whether any other late '96 SS's had this restrictor put right before the muffler. You can't tell just by looking at it and I really don't want to take it all apart just to see if it's there. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome new friend. Yes there was a cone of silence, I don't know the production sequence I'm sure Jeff Y could help there.
There is a local fellow (Taner) who has a 9 second 6 speed 96 SS. If it's mods to go fast he can sure help there!
Hope to meet you one day.

Welcome Bill, Here's a link to some RPO CODES for you, tho i didn't see the last 4 on your list. If your SS has the TOTL (two on the left) exhaust, i'd say your chance's are real good you have the cone, if you've got the 1 in, 2 out each side type muffler you should be ok. Enjoy the ride.

Bill, on my 97 the 6 & 7BL was a code for the suspendsion, and the 8 & 9TJ are for interior trim. Unfortunately I don't remember where I found this info.
