I installed SLP's lid, MAF, bellows and CAI together with a K&N filter a couple of days ago. I'm very happy with the results. The car definetly feels more awake One thing bothers me though... How worried should I be about driving in the rain??? Is that something I should avoid alltogether or is it safe to drive like I did before I installed it? I guess some water is bound to end up in the filter now but how harmful is it? Maybe I can duct tape the CAI shut if rain is a big no no
Another question while I'm at it... I'm thinking of buying a BBK 80mm throttle body. I was told by someone that it's too big for a stock engine and I would just be wasting my money. I don't know if I should believe that or not. What do you think? Should I buy a BBK 80mm or just save my money for something else?

Well, being in the Pacific Northwest, I'd say mine sees a fair amount of rain. I checked the filter after the first time I drove fast (freeway speeds) in heavy rain...still dry. I think it'd take quite a bit beyond "normal driving" conditions to cause any worry.

You should have no trouble with the CAI. i have it on my SS and have not had any trouble at all and it is a daily driver. and i live in one of the most rainy parts of the US.
as for the BBK T/B, i have also heard that it is not worth it unless you have done some serious mods to your engine, such as a head and cam package, etc..

On some of the other boards people have reported problems with the CAI or FTRA vs water. Each occurance I have read had to do with driving though a puddle of water. The depth of the water varied in the reports. Some saw the water coming others didn't. Apparently some of the guys fab up a blockoff plate to use when driving in heavy rain.
I have heard the same about the BBK.

I have had no problems with the SLP CAI and I have driven in very heavy rain on the highway at about 80-90 kph (cars were pulled over and stopped).
It is a nice addition too. I have noticed a SOTP difference in acceleration at highway speeds.
I believe there could be problems with other CAI that have their openings lower down, but the SLP opening is up a fair ways and out of the direct air/water stream. In other words, water would have to take a fairly sharp bend to get to the intake opening.
Snow on the other hand could be a problem and I have already made a blocking plate to close it off for the winter. I have had to stop in snow storms to clean out the radiator opening to prevent the car from overheating.
I have heard that the stock TB is good for engines up to 500 HP.
