Was out tonight since it was nice and clear and took some pics with my digital cam as well as 35mm...also looked in my telescope. Not the Best pics, but gives you an idea. The pixelated one was on for 4 seconds and doesn't work great with digital cameras. The 35mm shoudl turn out a lot better with telephot lense [Big Grin]

Anyone else have pics or enjoy this? [Smile]

lol BDub.

Dan,...awesome pics.
I better get out there one of these days and look at it, because the next time its supposed to happen again is sometime in 60,000 years. (correct me if I'm wrong, because I'm wrong very often, and can't tell anymore. [Big Grin] [Razz] ).

Yeah, I love astronomy...not to be confused with astrology [Razz] I thought the one pic was pretty decent with a crappy 2.1 MP camera. You can see it with the naked eye...even all year round...it's just really bright and really sticks out right now.

This is the closest Mars will ever get to the Earth. "Mars will be less than 34.65 million miles (55.76 million kilometers) away -- closer than it’s been in 59,619 years."(space.com) You were close Jana [Smile] Love the pic Bdub [Wink]

Here's someon'es snapshots that spanned close to 3 hours of Mars:

I have always been fascinated with tall of the planets especially Mars. I noticed the "Face" long before they started talking about it. Totally awesome. [Big Grin]

Get that camera ready and post some more photos.

If the weather will clear up we may have a chance to view Mars again...if not then you will have to take a trip to Mars,Pa. to see the spaceship! [Big Grin]

Alot of small observatories are usually one to the public a few nights a week. I'd heading out to the one at Brown University in Providence tonight. They're going to have the telescope focused on Mars.

I had a friend go to a local observatory. Stood in line for 4 hours! [Eek!] Said it was worth it. Someday I'll get to one. Supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow, so I'll have to see what I can take. Thanks all! [Smile]

Well..it cleared up after 10pm...and didn't get a chance to go outside until 2am. It was kinda foggy....or maybe just high humidity. Was able to snap a few more, include a 3 part series I made into an animated gif. the shutter was open on the digital cam for 4 sec, thus the streak. Oh and the camera was pointed in my telescope, so that's why it was moving very fast across the viewing area. Enjoy!
Another blurry pic of Mars through 100% humidity:

Night sky through telescope! Amazing the stars it can see, yet with the naked eye, you cant see any of them:
