Went out to the garage to oil a padlock for Marion, took out the first couple of bags, camera, towels.
Left them in the car and came back in for breakfast and final prep.
Went out 45 minutes later ...garage was a mess, the ignition in both Camaros smashed, camera bag, complete with camera and about $1100 US cash ... and a bunch of tools all gone.
Found some of the stuff, along with about 1/2 a dozen bear in the yard.
Spent the last hour on the phone with the police and the auto insurance company.
Now I'm waiting for the police to show up to take a look, then arrange for a flat deck to come get the cars.
Looks like either no vacation and Bowling Green, or if we can get stuff sorted out, we'll head out with the Envoy.
I'll keep y'all posted.

Brian, got your message. We will make Bowling Green ...the question is in what ...I desperately want to be there in the SS after all the hours I invested into it the last couple of weeks.
Worst case ...you'll have to let me co-drive yours for autoX
In the big picture this is "small stuff". Like Chris said ...we're okay ... I could have gone out sooner and ended up in the garage with a couple of drunks.
The frustration now is waiting .....

Ms. HTWLSS has a good suggestion, and you might want to consider having a friend or relative "house-sit" while you're gone....especially at night....with a big gun...and a couple of Rottweilers...

Is there any chance that the ignition lock can be replaced today?? Even with a temporary cylinder.
I can imagine how you and Marion feel. In the past, one of my cars was vandalized several times and each time it made mr feel kinda of like I had been violated.
Look forward to seeing you at BG.

Police ID did their thing and took the beer.
Now how do you wash this black stuff off your hands.
Really good news though ...the bin of tools they had left out in the yard ....we couldn't go through it until the ID unit was done ... the camera bag with camera and cash was buried in the bottom.
Net result ...no financial loss, two ignitions that insurance will replace ...zero deductible and we take the Envoy on vacation. Not too bad at all. and a lesson learned!!!

That's making lemonade out of lemons. I'm glad you got your $$$ and camera. I still can't beleive how low some poeple can be. Nothing worse than someone violating your space and property. I still remember when I was about 11 years old and we went camping in Ensanada, Baja california. Somebody stold my dirtbike. It's a feeling that I'll never forget. I really hate theifs!
Hope you have a great time at BG. Looks like you've got a few rides for autoX, should be fun. In the big picture (that you've already mentioned) look at the friends you've got...can't imagine the peers these guys hang with.

Yeah. that does suck. PoSSum, im sorry to hear about your experience. We have been robbed twice, both times when we lived in Britain. Once before christmas, and once after. The panicy fear of realizing that you are not safe, even in your own home, is a serious wake up call. its good that you recovered some of your stuff, but it still sucks about the ignitions in the cars.

I'm really glad to hear you'll still be making it to Bowling Green. Hopefully you'll find somebody who'll let you run in the AutoX...I'm still looking forward to a little friendly competition.

Sorry to hear something like that. I am fortunate to live in a very low crime area. We leave our condo unlocked during the day. When I read something like this, it reminds me we live in a world that no matter how hard you work for something, there will always be someone there to try to take it away. I just don't understand.
