They must have repainted that car since it looked like a collector edition at last years BG event.May not even be the same car since Matt Murphy mentioned to me that the car was a 1998 V6 originally.

Wasn't the ZL1 Camaro going for $90,000.00?

I'm sure they're wanting a similar price.

Which ZL1? the big bad 800hp monster or the docile 600hp B4C camaros?

Something doesn't seem right to me. Why would it be a GMMG car when Drekar ASV did all the engine mods? If it were a certified GMMG car why wouldn't they have gone with their own 427 LS6 engine to produce the same HP as that Vortec LS1?

Besides the exhaust (which anyone can buy) & the GMMG plaque inside the door jamb (which could be easily duplicated) I really see no similarities between that car & the ZL1 Camaros. That fact that it has the TT II's instead of the Z06 or Cragar S/S wheels (that were to my knowledge the only wheels offered on the ZL1) makes me think more of the GMMG Blackbird which wasn't worth anything close to what he's asking for this car.

The window sticker also just looks to perfect to me to be authentic, but I'm sure he could have scanned it & cleaned it up a bit.

Don't get me wrong here, it's certainly an awesome car & I'm not taking anything away from how nicely done it is, but anytime someone says something is a "limited edition 1 of 1 car", I'm skeptical.

Also, the fact that an 80K car is being sold my someone called "theyoungjediknight" doesn't seem right to me either. [Wink]

I know I shouldn't be judging a car that I haven't seen in person though.

The 427 C5R's for the GMMG cars were built by Dale Earnhardt Incorporated's engine shop. Maybe they just wanted to do something different for the Firebird. As for the ZL1's you could order any wheels you wanted to pay for, but the gray Z06 were standard.

I learn over this weekend that it is NOT a GMMG car. The car was already built, and the owner wanted some help on the final finishes. GMMG did do some work on the car, but it was baby appearance stuff, mats, emblems, and the like. The "tag" in the door is the invoice number for all cars that GMMG works on.

Also, the C5R 427s are NOT built by DEI, DEI has absolutely 100% nothing to do with the engine. The public/published information is wrong, the engines are built by a company that does consulting for DEI - just FYI

Here is the LS6 powered Firebird that Matt Murphy drove to last years F-body Gathering in Bowling Green. [Cool]
