Up date to my old dog Yoshi who I gave to a guy at work because he would not stay in my yard.
I talked to the guy who I gave Yoshi. He found him at the Detroit dog pound. He had been there for 5 days and even after Yoshi's picture was dropped off.The pound never called this guy.He went last Thursday to the pound and was told the dog was not there even though he was. Stupid ediot people that work for the City of Detroit. He went to to the pound on Friday and a lady that he spoke with asked around. They found Yoshi. He apparently was hit by a car and on Friday the pound put him to sleep. How much suffering did the poor dog do for 5 days or was he not hurt that much? They pulled Yoshi from the freezer and the guy at work identified him.I feel like crap and can hardly function at work now.
Please say a prayer for Yoshi.May he rest in peace.

OMG.....that is so sad.....but try not to beat yourself up over it. You know that you gave him a good life while you had him....and it sounds like with his habit of running away, it could have been a roll of the dice every time. You did what you thought was best.....and that's all you can do. I'm so sorry. Posted by DanPazich (Member # 1352) on :

Sorry to hear Greg. It's truly unfortunate but keep in mind that you were trying to give him a better place to live when you gave him away.
RIP Yoshi. Posted by CamaroSCG (Member # 1591) on :

That's really sad. I know everyone hoped it would turn out better.
There wasn't anything you could do about it though. Don't beat yourself up. The guy you gave the dog to is a tool.

I'm sorry for your loss, Greg.
It really sucks that people can't manage to take care of their pets. They make a commitment when they take them on......
You did your best.... how were you to know.....

The neglect of people to do their job simply amazes me. I find it that many people in apublic sector job are just their for a check and nothing else.

I'm sorry Greg. The pound would be hearing a few choice words from me. Stupid people. Posted by 2002Z4CSS (Member # 1393) on :
I just talked to the guy who I gave Yoshi. He told me the details. The Detroit Dog Pound actually kept that dog for 5 days with no medical attention when both front legs had been very messed up and open exposed muscle. The Detroit office of the Michigan Humane Society was then given the dog last Friday morning and at that time ,they could not do anything for him.Poor thing was alive for all of that time.My co-worker said he left that place in tears even though he had not had Yoshi for much time. Man that is terrible. How can those people be so darn cruel. I am really sorry for your loss Greg. I can tell just how much Yoshi meant to you.
He is with you in spirit my friend.

No wonder why the City of Detroit has so many lawsuites against them. They have some very stupid city employees.I now have some closure at least. It is very hard for me to think about Yoshi without wiping the tears from my eyes.I will cherrish the good times we had everyday and never forget him.Good bye Yoshi. Sorry for your loss. Posted by ss_rs_z (Member # 1888) on :
I truly understand Greg. The City of Detroit cries about how it is treated by its Suburbs and all and yet they can't even handle running a Humane Shelter. Always finding excuses to put blame somewhere else instead of acknowledging how indecent it runs its own programs. Makes me truly sick to see how this once great City turned into.
A pet is a part of the family and when I see things like this and cruelty going on just makes me really angry.
My Heart goes out to you and your family my friend. Yoshi is by your side so think of the good times and I hope this takes away some of the pain.

We put our dog of 15 years down a couple months back, it was the hardest thing I have had to go through before. Posted by 2002Z4CSS (Member # 1393) on :

Sorry to hear your loss.I have done that several times in the past and it does not get easier.I have never had a dog go thru what Yoshi had to after giving him away.I know why the Michigan Humane Society does a background check and you have to be approved to adopt an animal.

yup sounds like a typical shelter to me. a bunch of dumb a$$e$ running the show. They REALLY don't care there. Thats why rescues are so much better. THOSE people care.
I can name a 2 couples right now.
Bruce and Jess - Sheppard rescue Ken and Mary - Golden retriever Rescue. (with Wolfdog too help too)
These folks help with dogs and ask nothing in return other then to put the dog in a good loving home.
